The Inaugural Ladiga Marathon and Half Marathon will be run on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at 8:00 AM. The course runs on the scenic Chief Ladiga Trail, a pedestrian and cyclist only paved trail that stretches 33 miles from Anniston, Alabama to the Alabama/Georgia state line. The Chief Ladiga Trail also connects to the Silver Comet Trail in Georgia, which stretches another 60 miles, making the two trails over 92 miles long and the second longest paved pedestrian path in America!
The course runs through Piedmont, Alabama, a quaint, friendly town along the Chief Ladiga Trail and past forests, farmlands and streams.
The Ladiga Marathon & Half Marathon are part of the Run the Rails Challenge in which participants run a marathon or half on Saturday, February 25, in the Rock the Comet Marathon & Half Marathon and then run a marathon or half in the Ladiga Marathon & Half Marathon on Sunday, February 26.
The races are USATF sanctioned and are in the process of being USATF certified, making the marathon a Boston Qualifier.
