Description
Phi Eta Sigma’s 5K for $10K Run for Reading is back — and we’re running with purpose!
From October 15 to November 15, members, alumni, and friends of Phi Eta Sigma are invited to complete a virtual 5K anywhere, anytime. Whether you jog through your campus, stroll your neighborhood, or hit the gym treadmill, every step helps us reach our goal of $10,000 for literacy.
All proceeds benefit Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, providing free books to children and inspiring a lifelong love of reading. Together, we’re helping build brighter futures — one book, one mile, and one child at a time.
When and where can I walk or run the race?
Any time between Oct. 15 and Nov. 15, and wherever you are. Just make sure to give yourself some time to drum up some interest and monetary contributions before and/or you go on your walk or run.
How do I collect donations?
The easiest way is to use the personalized link you are given when you register as a racer. You can send that link to anyone interested in donating to the cause or sponsoring your run per each of the five kilometers. (If you have trouble with your personalized link, you can always send them to this link, where they can donate and search for a participant to tag.) You can collect donations physically (in cash) if you prefer, with those funds needing to go to your chapter's advisor or to the national headquarters.
If you're collecting books, you can do so however you see fit. Those books can either be contributed to your chapter's overall effort, or if you're using the books to count toward your $100 raised for a Member of Distinction status qualification, they can be sent to the national office for verification. You can contact the national office at HQ@phietasigma.org for more information on that process.
How can I donate?
If you'd like to donate to a specific runner, they have a personalized link they can send you. You can also hit the Donate button in the top right corner of this page to make a general donation.
Do I have to post my time?
No — we're raising money for a good cause, not qualifying for the Olympic trials. That being said, if you're proud of your time, post it!
