Tuscaloosa Gauntlet

Join Tuscaloosa County Park & Recreation Authority (PARA), Tuscaloosa Tourism & Sports (Visit Tuscaloosa), and the Alabama Marines Foundation for the fifth annual Tuscaloosa Gauntlet obstacle course race, Saturday, April 10, 2027. The race features 20+ obstacles, including a Marine regulation O-Course. 

Whether you're a competitive racer or just getting started, the course will provide a challenge worth celebrating! Competitive, open, and team heats are available, as well as a kids race. This year, we will feature kids race on Friday evening, April 9th, during packet pickup.  This will be family night with food trucks and fun for the entire family!

The course will be different than last year's and will have new obstacle additions!

CAMPING
On site tent and RV camping is available through PARA at the Ray C. Jenkins Multipurpose Arena located within Sokol Park South.
Please note, sites include water hookup only (power is not available; we recommend bringing a generator). 
RATES:
$15.00/night for up to two tents & one vehicle
$25.00/night for RV & one vehicle
$5.00 fee for up to one additional vehicle

FRIDAY 4/9— KIDS RACE

RACE CHECK-IN & PACKET PICK UP OPENS: 4:00 P.M.
KIDS RACES START: AGES 9+ 6:00 P.M. Ages 4-8 6:15 P.M.

 

MUSIC, FESTIVAL & FOOD TRUCKS 5:00 P.M.
AWARDS CEREMONY: 7:30 P.M.
FOOD & MUSIC FEST ENDS: 8:00 P.M.

WHAT TO WEAR

We recommend wearing quick dry clothing, trail or OCR shoes you don't mind getting muddy, and shorts with high socks or pants to avoid rope  burns/shin scrapes. Socks that wick away moisture are suggested, but be prepared that they may not go home clean.

WHAT TO BRING

Please bring a valid ID for check-in. We also recommend bringing a change of clothes & shoes to enjoy post-race festivities, a towel, baby wipes, and a garbage bag (for muddy clothes). Other recommended items include cash or a credit card for merchandise/food purchases on site, sunscreen, and bug spray.  If you are a spectator, consider bringing a tailgate style chair.
 
Trophies will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finisher from the men's competitive heat and the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finisher from the  women's competitive heat. First place trophies will be awarded in the team competitive divisions and kids (boy & girl winner in both age divisions 4-8 and 9+)
All registered participants will receive a finisher medal upon completing the race.

YOUTH COURSE

KIDS RACE FOR AGES 4+

AGE DIVISIONS: AGES 4-8 AND 9 & UP

~ 1 mile of mud pits, low crawls, tire flips, and more!

Please note, a water feature may also be included.

The 2026 kids race will take place Friday, April 9th at 6:00PM.

The youth course is designed for ages 4 & up; however, ages 10+ can register to run the main course if accompanied by an adult. Ages 14+ can register to run the main course alone.
