The Southminster Scamper is a timed foot race through Vestavia Hills and a Fun Run! The Southminster Scamper also hosts multiple vendor booths. Join Heather Benoit from Healthyish with Heather at 7:45 a.m. for stretching and warm-up! The 5K Scamper cowbell rings at 8 a.m. to kick off the race. Walk, run, or SCAMPER all the way to the finish line!! The Fun Run's cowbell rings at 9:15 a.m. to start the race. The Fun Run is sure to be full of smiles and end with silly string, bubbles, and a finishers medal for the children! Tillman Field will host vendors, activities, food trucks, face painting, and more while DJ Laurence keeps that party going until 11 am!  Register by February 17th to be guaranteed a t-shirt! Extra shirts will be ordered but to guarantee a shirt register by 2/17. Top male over 16 finisher, top female over 16 finisher, top male 16 and under finisher, and top female 16 and under finisher will be awards prizes. 

The 5K race is RCAA insured. 

There are 3 options offered for this event. 5K (3.1 miles)- $35, Kids Fun Run (12 and under)- $20, and Sleep- In- $25. All registration includes a short sleeved T-shirt. 

Packet pick up information: Thursday, March 10th 4:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m.   Friday, March 11th 10 a.m.-1:00 p.m.   Saturday, March 12th 7 a.m.-7:45 a.m. for 5K and until 9am for Fun Run

7:00 a.m.- 7:45 a.m.- Packet pick up/Race day Registration

7:45 a.m.- Warm-up stretches with Heather Benoit from Healthyish with Heather

8:00 a.m.- 5K race begins/Race Day Registration for Kids Fun Run Continues

9:00 a.m.- Awards Ceremony for 5K/Fun Run Registration Closes

9:15 a.m.- Warm-up Stretches with Mrs. Leah begins and Fun Run begins

10:30 a.m.- Raffle Drawing

The Southminster Scamper co-hosted by Southminster Presbyterian Church and Southminster Day School is dedicated to supporting Greater Birmingham Ministries and Southminster Day School.

Greater Birmingham Ministries strives to serve people, build community, and pursue justice. GBM provides food, clothing, and financial assistance to people in crisis. They offer faith communities in Birmingham and Alabama the opportunity to serve, to learn about poverty and justice, and to act on their faith and to be supported in advocating for justice. GBM works alongside low-income neighborhoods and people to nurture community leaders, provide ongoing leadership development around issues and bring new leaders into public decision-making processes that affect their community. A portion on the proceeds will go to benefit the ministry of GBM. For more information visit:

Southminster Day School, a private school, was established in 1967.  The SDS mission is to give children of the community the finest background in their early formative years in a Christian atmosphere. This year the funds raised from the Scamper will go towards purchasing Smart TV's for each classroom. For more information visit:
