Founded in 1999 by Terry Heiman-Patterson, MD, and Jeffrey Deitch, PhD, the ALS Hope Foundation provides funding for the MDA/ALS Center of Hope and the Dr. Robert Sinnott Research Laboratory at Temple University Hospital.  The ALS Hope Foundation funds local and international efforts to find the cause and cure of ALS. This much needed support is generated through fundraisers and private donations.

The MDA/ALS Center of Hope at Temple University Lewis Katz School of Medicine is dedicated to a multidisciplinary approach to patient care. This means that upon visiting the center, the individual with ALS will be seen by a team of experienced healthcare professionals. This clinic has been providing a multidisciplinary approach to care for people with ALS and their families in the Greater Philadelphia metropolitan area since 1984. The support from the ALS Hope Foundation ensures that this clinic can continue to offer access to not only care, but also clinical trials of promising therapeutics and maintain its work at the forefront of clinical ALS research.

The ALS Hope Foundation also maintains an excellent team of scientists focused on ALS research operating out of the Dr. Robert Sinnott Research Laboratory at Temple University Hospital.  This laboratory continues to move the research forward through its innovative work as well as through collaborations with others.

The Foundation is also involved in educational events to inform people about ALS as well as provide support programs for people with ALS and their caregivers that optimize care and promote independence.
