Description
What is a kids marathon?
The South Arkansas Kids Marathon is an event that gives children ages 5 to 12 years the opportunity to complete the marathon distance (26.2 miles) over an extended period of time. Participants have 12 weeks to complete at least 25 miles and may run, jog, walk or do a combination of all three. Then on race day, Saturday, July 9th, all registered participants finish their marathon as they run “The Final Mile” (1.2 miles) on the official race course starting and finishing at HealthWorks Fitness Center in El Dorado, Arkansas.
Free Training Program
Children can train at home with an adult training partner or can join a group if offered at school, church or any civic/community/athletic organization. Parents should consult with your child’s physician before beginning this or any fitness program.
The Training Log can be found online at www.healthworksfitnesscenter.com or at HealthWorks Fitness Center. This training log will help them reach their mileage goal prior to race day.
