Amazon Project Turkey Trot

Thank you for supporting the 1st Annual Amazon Project Medical Mission 5k Run/Walk

The Second Baptist Church of Malvern, Arkansas began sponsoring the Amazon Mission Project in 2013.  Since taking over sponsorship of the project, a seminary building in the village of Santa Rosa on the Amazon River has been built.  Pastors travel to Santa Rosa 3 or 4 times a year to learn more about teaching and pastoring.  As part of this project, teams travel to Iquitos, Peru to help with Vacation Bible School, construction and medical clinics.

Second Baptist believes it is the responsibility of our church and other churches to send our missionaries and their families to Peru to reach these people.  These families will be moving to Iquitos in 2018 and will teach and also help minister medically to these people.

In July 2019, a team of doctors, nurses and others will travel to three villages on the Amazon River.  The team will treat the people there that are sick.  Because of poor drinking water and mosquitoes there are many there that are ill.  This race will be to raise funds to purchase medicine for these people.  100% of these funds will be used for medicine.  In 2015, a team visited four villages and treated 1251 people and handed out almost 6,000 medications. In 2017, a team visited two locations and served multiple villages. The team saw over 800 people and handed over 3,000 medications and 300 pair of glasses.

You will not be coming to only run/walk, but to help these adults and children to receive medication and better their lives.
