This year, your mission takes you into the field with the ARI research team, where you’ll follow the same process real archaeologists use to survey, study, and protect cultural and archaeological resources. Before we can preserve history, we first have to find it—because we can’t protect what we don’t know is there.
Your trek will lead you through a series of research and preservation challenges, each reflecting a key stage in the archaeological process. Along the way, you’ll investigate anomalies identified in a past magnetometry survey, assess the condition of cultural sites, and make decisions that impact how we steward these resources for the future. From surveying the land to analyzing artifacts, each stop will bring you closer to uncovering the past—and protecting it before it’s gone.”
