Saturday, May 21 San Antonio, TX 78227 US Directions

THE CHALLENGE

The Course

Alpha Warrior Proving Grounds is a state-of-the-art obstacle course specifically designed to test every aspect of ability, the strength of every muscle group, mental fortitude and your body’s ability to keep going. Each team will power through military-style obstacles, covering almost 1,000 yards made up of 125 tons of steel.

Battleground Fitness Challenges & Tournaments

After teams complete the challenging obstacle course, their toughness will be pushed to the limits as they will then compete in two (2) fitness challenges to lower their overall time. Each challenge will be allotted 10 minutes.

The Walkthrough Training – Friday, May 13 or Saturday, May 14 (REQUIRED)*

Each team will receive access to Alpha Warrior at home training videos to make sure the participants are physically prepared to run the course. In addition, teams will have the opportunity on May 13 or May 14 to attend and complete one practice session at the obstacle course.

*90-minute walkthrough will be scheduled during registration at a first-come, first-serve basis during time windows below:

Friday, May 13th - 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Saturday, May 14th - 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Training and walkthroughs are now required for all teams and participants this year. This is to give teams a better perspective of the challenging obstacle course prior to the event day while also mitigating safety concerns with the students being able to see and try the course. We will also use this opportunity for teams to meet their assigned Military Captain as well.

Team Captains are responsible for coordinating and communicating with students on their team that they attend the selected training day and timeslot.

DUE TO LIMITED AVAILABILITY AT THE VENUE, THERE ARE NO OTHER DATES OR TIMES AVAILABLE FOR A MAKEUP AND TIMESLOTS ARE LIMITED AT EACH TIME AND AVAILABLE AT A FIRST-COME, FIRST SERVE BASIS.

Team Coach - High School Coach or JROTC Instructor

Each team registered MUST have at least one adult Team Coach who will be responsible for recruiting their 8-10 students to fill their roster. Team Coach will also be responsible for monitoring the status of their student’s registration completion. Responsibility lies on Team Coach to have entire roster registered by May 2, 2021. Team Coach will also communicate event details, schedule and all other logistics related to event. Team Coach will also work with assigned Military Captain to ensure communication and engagement with captain and team. These opportunities for engagement will include online video calls and training/practice sessions at the Alpha Warrior Proving Grounds prior to the event. Teams may have two (2) adult Team Coach but both will still be required to complete registration.

Military Team Captain

Each team will be assigned one U.S. military member who will serve as their Military Captain. Captains will serve as assistant to Team Coach and give guidance and advice to team prior to event and during event competition. Military Captains will also have access to students contact information. Captains will be in attendance on event date to provide coaching and support as teams complete the challenge.

Military Team Captain Engagement

Military Captains will be connected with their teams as early as April 22.  Teams will be required to participate and attend 1 of the 2 trainings day for practice on the obstacle course, safety precaution for familiarity of course, and an introduction to your team’s assigned Military Captain.  Military Captain will be provided team’s contact information prior to training days and can begin reaching out to both registered students and high school coach at their earliest convenience and as much as they’d like leading up to the event. Teams and Military Captains are encouraged to host video calls and communication as needed.

Safety Precautions

Safety is of the utmost priority.  With approval from Bexar County and more than 200,000 square feet of outdoor space to spread out, we have designed the schedule and course to allow for appropriate social distancing between teams. Teams will be assigned specific time slot and will be walked through each station to avoid interaction with other teams. Staff on site will be minimal but will include medical trainers from OrthoNow. All students, coaches and staff will be required to wear a mask when not competing.  Additionally, the facility and equipment have been treated with Zoono Protect, a surface disinfecting spray that kills germs, including COVID-19 on surfaces for up to 30 days. All athletes and coaches will be required to utilize the Zoono Protect Hand Sanitizer that protects hands from germs for up to 24 hours. Temperature checks will be required upon entry for all students, coaches, and staff.
