The 2022 GORE-TEX Kahtoola Uphill

Thank you to everyone who participated in this year's event! To view race results, click here. For race raffle winners, click here.

After a year away from the mountain, we couldn't be more excited to bring back the 15th Annual GORE-TEX Kahtoola Uphill in-person for 2022! With accommodations for COVID-19 in place, we look forward to welcoming everyone back for a fun and safe event.

The GORE-TEX Kahtoola Uphill is a fun, family-friendly annual mountain race up the slopes of Arizona Snowbowl that encourages human-powered movement and is also the biggest fundraiser for Friends of Camp Colton. Grab your Kahtoola MICROspikes®, touring skis, or traction device of your choice, and join us as we celebrate our 15th year! Race individually, or get three friends together and form a team of 4. With events ranging from easy to challenging, sign up for the Fun Climb, Midway Climb or the Lumberyard Brewing Company Agassiz Climb, or hang out at the bottom and cheer on the racers. And don't forget to dress up and enter our costume/dance contest!

Kahtoola will generously loan out MICROspikes® footwear traction at racer check-in on a first-come, first-serve basis. All proceeds from the race, Aspen Sports Race Raffle and Golden Ticket Raffle benefit Friends of Camp Colton and support outdoor environmental education for kids. Challenge yourself to race for a good cause and ask your friends and family to support your efforts with a generous donation. There are awesome prizes for all the races and fantastic fundraising incentives!

Prioritizing Health, Safety, and Fun

Creating a healthy, safe, and fun environment for everyone is our utmost priority at this year's. Above all, our goal is to give everyone options during the event to ensure that there's a balance between fun and responsible event management.

Race Packet and Loaner Spikes Pick-Up

There are two times and locations to pick up your race packet and check out loaner spikes, and outdoor pick-up will be available at both locations.

On Friday February 11, racers will be able to pick up their race packets at Dark Sky Brewing Company in Downtown Flagstaff from 4pm to 7pm. Kahtoola will also be on-site to loan out MICROspikes® footwear traction – limited pairs are available and will be loaned out on a first come, first served basis.

For individuals that would like to stay for food and drinks, complimentary small bites will be provided courtesy of Pizzicletta, and drinks will be available for purchase at the brewery. All health and safety protocols for Dark Sky Brewing Company will be in place, and masks are requested for any individuals who are not seated at a table and eating and drinking.

For racers who prefer an outdoor pick-up option, curbside pick-up will be available during the same time. There will also be an option to pick up your race packet at the Kahtoola office located at 431 S. River Run Rd. on the morning of the race, Saturday February 12, from 10am to 12pm.

Post-Race Festivities

For racers, supporters, volunteers, and spectators, there will be post-race food and festivities at the Arizona Snowbowl Fremont Restaurant & Bar, the start/finish location. Capacity will be reduced inside the restaurant, and we ask that all individuals wear a mask when not eating and drinking. We encourage everyone to dress warm – doors in the restaurant will remain open during the entirety of the event to allow for additional ventilation, and heaters and fire pits will be available on the outdoor patio outside the restaurant. For all participants, there will be the option to be outside at all times, and you will not need to be present to win prizes of any kind.
