Description
Trauma is the leading cause of death for children and adults between the ages of 1 and 46. Most people are unaware of the devastating consequences of traumatic injury until they are personally affected by it. On a positive note, treatment of life-threatening injuries at a designated trauma center can lower the risk of death by as much as 25%! Public safety campaigns that educate the community also contribute to reduction in traumatic deaths and injuries.
"Tackle Trauma" 5k Walk/Run was created in 2014 to raise funds for The Arizona Trauma Association (ATA), a non-profit organization comprised of the state's trauma centers. It is held every Super Sunday to coincide with the professional football’s championship game because it’s a great way to celebrate community, family, and health, while promoting awareness of trauma as a disease and the highly skilled personnel and institutions dedicated to ‘curing’ it.
