Event Description

Race for Chase! Chase just turned 10, and on October 3 we’re celebrating him with miles, community, and a whole lot of hope.

In the fall of 2025, Chase was diagnosed with pediatric chordoma, an incredibly rare cancer affecting only about 10 children each year in the United States. After an extensive surgery earlier this year, Chase and his family are now navigating what comes next.

Chordoma is difficult to treat and frequently returns after surgery and radiation. If it does return, treatment options are extremely limited. With so few children diagnosed each year, research dollars are scarce. But research also represents something incredibly powerful for Chase and other kids like him: the possibility of better treatments.

So we’re running.

Chase’s mom, Cara, has been part of the Tucson running and triathlon community for nearly two decades. Now we’re inviting that community, and anyone who wants to join us from near or far, to show up for their family in a way we know how: one mile at a time.

Race for Chase is a virtual 5K or 10K for everyone. Chase a PR. Jog with your kids. Speed walk with friends. Run one of our scheduled Tucson routes alongside the community or complete your miles anywhere in the world. Your pace doesn’t matter. Your participation does.

Together, our goal is to raise $200,000 for the Chordoma Foundation to help fund research toward new and improved treatments.

For Chase, this research is deeply personal. His family is holding onto the hope that by the time he needs more aggressive treatment, better options will exist. And that those options will be there for every child who comes after him, too.

Choose your distance. Invite your people. Set a fundraising goal. And race for Chase.

5K or 10K. Tucson or anywhere. Any pace. One big purpose.

Join Us in Tucson!
Race for Chase can be completed from anywhere, but if you’re in Tucson, we’d love to have you join us in person at St. Philip’s Plaza on October 3! Come race, run, walk, bring the kids, or cheer everyone on. We’ll have several start times so there’s a place for everyone:

6:30 AM — 10K + Women’s 5K
7:15 AM — Men’s 5K
8:00 AM — Kids + Family 5K

Choose the group that feels right for you and come be part of the Race for Chase community in person. Any pace is welcome!

Q&A

Where does my $10 registration fee go?

Your $10 registration goes directly to the Chordoma Foundation to support chordoma research. RunSignup adds a separate $1.60 processing fee at checkout; that fee goes to RunSignup, not the Foundation.

Why are some participants asking for donations?

When someone signs up for Race for Chase, they can also choose to become a fundraiser. This means they create a personal fundraising page and invite their own friends, family and community to donate to the Chordoma Foundation in support of their race.

Fundraising is completely optional, but it gives each participant the chance to turn their $10 registration into something much bigger. If every runner shares Race for Chase with their own community, our impact can multiply quickly, and that's how we hope to reach our $200,000 goal!

Run or walk. Fundraise if you can. Share either way. It all helps Chase.
