With the current Covid19 pandemic affecting the ability community to function along traditional lines, the Bermuda Bicycle Association has considered the requirements of complying with Government guidelines on gatherings and social distancing. Consideration has been given to reducing incidental proximity as well as contact. This applies to staffing of events, registration transactions, publication of results and participant interaction. The BBA feels that with the process detailed below that we can host events which are fully compliant with the Government policies while also allowing participants the opportunity to compete in proper events. At all times the safety of the participants and event staff are of paramount importance and will be the primary consideration of the organizers. Full approval of the Bermuda Government and related authorities will be required before events commence.
All participants must register online through www.RaceDayWorld.com in advance of the event.
Registration will close at 6pm the evening before the event and a start list will be emailed out that evening.
Please check your email before heading to the start.
Participants are instructed to arrive 5 -10 minutes before their start time. By using the online system, we will eliminate contact between competitors and a traditional registration desk and make sure that there is no cash exchange. There will be no ability to participate unless registration has taken place online in advance.
Those who register will be given a start time and instructed to arrive no more than 5 minutes before their appointed start. Spaces for athletes to line up in order will be marked and there should only be 5 competitors in line at any given time within the marked out start area. Riders will start with one foot on the ground and there will be no interaction with the starter other than the verbal count down and order to start. When the course has been completed riders will be directed to leave the finish area. There will be no socializing before or after the event.
Those wishing to view the event are to maintain the necessary social distancing. The start/finish area will be managed to keep the total number of individuals in the area to no more than 10. This would include the Starter, the Timer, Official, 5 competitors and no more than 2 other individuals. All others wishing to observe the event will be asked to space themselves further along the course.
