Bermuda Lionfish Task Force (B.L.T.F.) Winter Derby
BECOME A LIONFISH HUNTER
Bermuda residents are invited to obtain a special permit to hunt lionfish which allows the permit holder to carry a 3 prong spear in order to cull lionfish. The permit also allows culling with the aid of scuba in areas where fishing would not otherwise be permitted.

Start : 12:01am January 1st / Finish: 11:59pm January 31st.
Rules of Tournament
- All catch submission must be done through the culling reporting website www.lionfish.bm
- Deadline for submitting catch for inclusion is 11:59pm January 31)
- For consideration for largest or smallest fish caught, please de-spine & freeze any fish over 44cm or under 15cm to be officially measured
- All current Bermuda government lionfish culling regulations must be adhered to.
- Participants should make their own determination as to the state of the weather and the safety of themselves, their team and equipment.
- Non-refundable $60.00 registration fee required (registration includes one free tournament sweatshirt/hoodie & one admission to the prize giving).
Included in your Registration
One Prize Giving Ticket and One Sweatshirt/Hoodie is included with your registration.
Additional Hoodies can by purchased as part of the registration process plus Sweatpants which are not included with your registration
Prize Giving
The prize giving will be held Sunday February 15th 2026 from 600pm to 800pm at the Aquariums Tank room. Hoodies will be available for collection at the event.
Achievement Prizes!
An incentive for cullers to ‘push’ to catch more fish during the Derby
Once the event is over, we will award prizes based on the final tally per participant. Prizes will be custom logo YETI products.
Prizes will be handed out during the Prize giving on Feb 15 2026.
The level of awards are as follows:
- 10 fish culled
- 20 fish culled
- 40 fish culled
- 60 fish culled
- 80 fish culled
- 100+ fish culled
