Event Description
BASA's White's Island Swim Camp Summer 2025
Bermuda Amateur Swimming Association teaches swimming lessons for beginner to improver swimmers in a camp environment in four separate week-long sessions. The Camps will start on June 30 and end on July 25.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
All Day program –The children travel by ferry from Albouy's point to White's Island. The 'Friendship' departs at 8:35a.m. sharp and returns at 5p.m. These are the only boats to and from the island each day, and swimmers must arrive at Albouy's point 15 minutes prior to departure time. Swimmers must also be picked up promptly once the ferry returns, or have permission to leave the dock.
COST
Cost of the program is $150 for the week. (There is an additional bank transaction fee from race day world.)
REGISTRATION

Registration will be on a first come first serve basis.

Swimmers may join for as many weeks as they want.

Youngest swimmer must turn 6 by December 31st, Oldest swimmer will be 12 years old by December 31st
Parents/relatives are not permitted at the facility; No exceptions

IMPORTANT INFORMATON

TRANSPORTATION TO THE ISLAND
Swimmers must catch the Ministry’s ferry (the “Friendship”) from the south side of Albuoy’s Point. NOT FROM THE FERRY TERMINAL, daily:

At 8:35 a.m. for the program (Be there and ready to go at 8:20 am)

THERE IS NO OTHER BOAT TO THE ISLAND
TRANSPORTATION FROM THE ISLAND
Swimmers will be returned to Albuoy’s Point, daily:
· At 5:00 p.m. from the program : for any parents who are allowing their children to walk from the dock to meet you at work, or catch a bus/ferry home please send a note with them in the morning to give to the Head Instructor; if not they’ll be required to wait at Albuoy’s Point
· STAFF WILL WAIT WITH THE CHILDREN UNTIL 5:30 ONLY; YOU WILL THEN BE CHARGED $1/MINUTE FOR ANY TIME AFTER THAT IN ORDER TO PAY STAFF
WHAT TO BRING
Your swimmer will need to bring:
- Goggles;
- A bathing suit, towels, old clothing to wear as a cover-up;
- Water shoes, d) cold drinks; a snack for break-time and lunch as well
- Sunscreen and hat – they are reminded to apply sunscreen 3 times a day & if they need assistance, please tell them to ask one of the instructors.
Please ensure they have enough drink for the day
NO FLIP FLOPS. Swimmers must wear shoes with backs.
WEATHER PERMITTING
The Program will not be offered during thunderstorms or on days with high seas. In the case of inclement weather please call the BASA’s cell phone (441) 518-9060 after 6:30am, NOT the office phone – no one will be there to answer your call at that hour.
Note that camp does still run if it’s just raining, but not in a storm with thunder/lightning or high winds.
APPROPRIATE BEHAVIOUR
VERY IMPORTANT: SWIMMERS WHO HAVE GREAT DIFFICULTY IN FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS, THOSE WHO ARE A CONTINUAL DISTRACTIVE INFLUENCE ON THE CLASS AND PARTICULARLY THOSE WHO USE BAD LANGUAGE AND ARE DISOBEDIANT, WILL BE REQUIRED TO WITHDRAW FROM OUR PROGRAMME. ** NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED. **
Please instruct your child at home so that he/she understands they will be on the island to learn water skills and water safety from the instructors and that they need to follow directions, not bother or touch other campers’ personal items. Our foremost objective is to provide a safe environment for all campers.
LOST ITEMS
Our Instructors and BASA are NOT responsible for lost items, so please tell your child to be sure and collect all of his/her belongings at the end of each day.
Full attendance is required for your swimmer to successfully complete the course.
