15th Annual Beverly Hills Turkey Trot 5K

5K Run or Family Walk: Saturday, November 25, 2023

The 15th Annual Beverly Hills Turkey Trot 5K Run and Family Walk returns on Saturday, November 25th, offering participants the opportunity to walk or run the beautiful tree-lined streets of the 19th Ward's historic North Beverly neighborhood. The race kicks off at 9:00 am at 9201 S. Hamilton Avenue. More than 2,000 participants are expected to take part in the Beverly Hills Turkey Trot 5K which has been an annual Thanksgiving weekend tradition for families for over a decade. Runners and walkers of all ages and skill levels are invited to join this fun event and burn off some Thanksgiving calories.

This year’s Turkey Trot includes a 5K run or walk, an untimed Family Walk (limit 4), or team registration.

All participants who register BEFORE race day will be guaranteed a Beverly Hills Turkey Trot long-sleeved event t-shirt and a goodie bag.

Please note, that anyone who signs up by Tuesday, October 31st by 5:00 pm has the opportunity to request a free upgrade to a hooded sweatshirt. THE SWEATSHIRT OPTION MUST BE CHOSEN DURING REGISTRATION IN ORDER TO GUARANTEE AVAILABILITY. OTHERWISE, A LONG-SLEEVE T-SHIRT WILL BE PROVIDED AT PACKET PICK-UP.

The 5K is chip-timed on a CARA-certified 5K course while the family walk is untimed. Runners will be divided by age and gender, according to CARA-recommended guidelines, with awards given to each age group. 

On the morning of the Turkey Trot 5K, the 19th Ward and Original Pancake House - Beverly will host a pancake breakfast immediately following the race in the gym of Christ the King. The cost is $5 per person or $25 per family.

Proceeds will benefit the 19th Ward Youth & Community Foundation and the John McNicholas Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.

Volunteers
If you are interested in volunteering for the Turkey Trot, you may sign up on the registration website or email the coordinator, Margie (margie@the19thward.com). We are looking for volunteers who can help before the race with packet pick-up; we also need help the day of the race with registration, course marshals, pancake breakfast, and clean-up.

Pancake Breakfast
The 19th Ward will host a pancake breakfast after the race. The cost is $5 per person or $25 per family and tickets can be added to your cart during registration or online separately and at the door. Breakfast will be in the gym at Christ the King and includes coffee, orange juice, and pancakes.

Course
The course leads runners and walkers through the tree-lined streets of historic North Beverly. The course is CARA-certified and will have water stations along the route.

Parking
The Turkey Trot starts at 9:00 am at 9200 and S Hamilton. The City of Chicago requests that all vehicles on the course must be off the street by 8:00 am as a matter of public safety.  The streets will re-open at 10:00 am.  The race course is bounded by Pleasant Avenue, Leavitt Street, 88th Street, and 94th Street. We will have course marshals and police officers stationed along the race course as well.

Street parking is available off of the course.

Timing
The 5K will be bib-tagged and timed by Lakeshore Athletic Services. Only runners will receive a bib and are timed.

Age Groups for Awards Ceremony: First, Second, and Third Place Only
Only 5K runners will be timed and be eligible for a medal (adult) and trophy (youth).
The age groups are 8 and under, 1-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80 & Over.

Gear Check
Gear check will be available the morning of the race from 8:00 am until 10:30 am.
