Bonney Lake Triathlon + Du. & Aquabike

August 30, 2025 Bonney Lake, WA 98391 US

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some questions we get asked. You might have the same one!

1) Do I need to wear a wetsuit?

We follow USAT guidelines. Wetsuits are required if the water is below 60.6 deg F and they are allowed up to 78 deg F water.

The lakes around here don't usually go outside of the "OK" temperature range. It's always your choice and what you feel most comfortable with.
All of the USAT rules can be found here: https://www.usatriathlon.org/multisport/rules

For Bonney Lake: The swim is a waist level water start, with expected water temperatures of 68-72.

2) Speaking of water - how deep is the lake?

As mentioned above, the start is at about waist level. After that? I have no idea. All I know is that I haven't heard of anyone that can touch once you leave the shore.

Here is a depth chart of the lake: https://usa.fishermap.org/depth-map/tapps-lake/
Allan Yorke Park is at the lower left / southwest part of the lake.

3) I need to change from Triathlon to Aquabike or Olympic to Sprint - at the same race.

Up to 2 weeks prior to registration closing, you can change that on your own!

This is called an "event" transfer and can be done through runsignup. Here is a help page that walks through the steps:
https://help.runsignup.com/support/solutions/articles/17000062922-transfer-to-another-event

4) When is the latest I need to let you know if I want to change my distance or discipline?!?

Before the start of the race. The best time would be no later than when you pick up your packet.

Note: If it's more than 2 weeks from the event, see #3 above!

5) Where can I park at the event?

See the link below to the Day of Race page, image towards the bottom.

6) What if I'd like to swim with my friend, who is in a different wave?

We try our best to balance out the waves, so nooone's wave is too small and noone's wave is too large.
We ask that if you'd like to do the race with a friend, who is in a different swim wave - please swim with your assigned wave and wait in transition.

You can continue the race together on the bike.
