Description
Are you ready to go the distance? Challenge yourself to virtually cover the length of Los Angeles’ iconic river from the Simi Hills to Long Beach’s RMS Queen Mary. The LA River has diverse surrounding and so will your virtual run/walk/ride. As you make your way you’ll have the opportunity to collect exclusive badges and ear special achievement tags to adorn and customize your finisher medal. Finally, reward yourself with a hard earned challenge finisher’s medal from Southern California’s own Elevation Culture.
You have a 2 month window from August to September to conquer the 51, 102, or 172 mile options either solo, or as a team (172 mile relay). You better get going!
All participants receive:
- Short-sleeve, super soft, gender-specific, poly-cotton event shirt, with logo on the front, and map of the Los Angeles River on the back.
- Designer Finishers Medal (1-4 special achievement tags), Made in the USA

WHO DOES THIS BENEFIT?
A portion of every registration will be donated to the Friends of the Los Angeles River (FOTLAR). In addition, you can opt to make an additional donation to Friends of the Los Angeles River during registration.

Achievement Tags:
- High 5 Achievement - Give me a High Five! Earn a HIGH 5 tag for your finishers medal by running/walking/riding at least 5 miles in one session
- Leader Achievement - Everyone can be a Leader! Earn your own LEADER tag for submitting at least one result between August 1st - 7th.
- Queen Mary Achievement - Earn your own QUEEN MARY tag by covering 51 miles in 31 days or less (from the time of your 1st result submission).
- Closer Achievement - Always be closing! Earn the CLOSER tag by submitting at least 2 results between September 24th - 30th
- Glendale Narrows Achievement - TBA

PARTICIPANT FAQs:
WHAT IS A VIRTUAL CHALLENGE? A Virtual Challenge is an event you can complete Anytime/Anywhere! There isn't a set time or place since virtual challenges are meant for you to complete at your convenience and at your own pace. To participant you jun need to run,walk or ride. There's no need to stress about missing the start gun!
CAN I SIGN UP FOR THE CHALLENGE WHILE THE EVENT IS OCCURRING? Yes, you can sign up any time before September 30th or during the event period.
HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO COMPLETE THE CHALLENGE? - The two month time frame of the LA River Challenge is from August 1st to September 30th. If you start after August 1st, you can still participate–you’ll just need to play a little catch up!
HOW DO I SUBMIT MY TIME/MILEAGE? - The completion of the distance is on the honor system. Once you or your teammates have completed your run, walk or ride enter you time and mileage at lariverchallenge.com. To be able to enter mileage you must be logged into your Runsignup.com account. To enter your mileage click "Results". Once on the "Results" page, to enter your mileage click "Submit Virtual Results". Each time you complete mileage you'll want to return to "Results" to submit your mileage. Be sure to check out your progress on the map!
HOW CAN I COVER THE DISTANCE? - You can run/walk/hike/cycle the distance.
HOW DO I TRACK MY PROGRESS? - After you register, you’ll receive an email with instructions on how to log your miles and see your progress.
WHEN DO I RECEIVE MY SWAG? - Finisher packets will be shipped out in 2 separate shipments, October 4th, and October 11th. We ship USPS Priority, please allow 2-4 days to receive you items.
IS THERE A SPECIFIC APP OR DEVICE WE NEED TO USE TO TRACK OUR TIME? You can track your run, walk, ride with any app, watch, or fitness device that you would like.
CAN I COMPLETE MY VIRTUAL RUN/RIDE/CHALLENGE BEFORE I HAVE RECEIVED MY GEAR? Yes, you don't have to wait to receive your gear in the mail- you can complete your run,walk, ride at any time.

CAN I UPDATE MY SHIPPING ADDRESS? If your gear has NOT been mailed out yet, we are happy to assist you with updating your shipping address. Just shoot us an email and we can make that change for you.
DO YOU SHIP TO APO ADDRESSES? Yes! However, our registration system sometimes has issues accepting these addresses. Please shoot us an email and we can help you out.
DO YOU SHIP INTERNATIONALLY? Not at this time.

HOW CAN I RECEIVE ANOTHER COPY OF MY CONFIRMATION EMAIL? You can resend yourself a copy of your confirmation email from your RunSignUp profile.
HOW CAN I FIND MY REFERRAL LINK? There are 2 different ways you can view your referral link. You can find your unique link in your confirmation email or from your RunSignUp profile
HOW CAN I SEE HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE REGISTERED THROUGH MY REFERRAL LINK? Thank you for referring your friends! You can track your referred registrations through your RunSignUp Profile. Log into RunSignUp and go to Runner Links>>My Referrals.
I REFERRED 3 FRIENDS- WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY $20 REFUND? Thank you for telling you Friends about us! Your referral refund will automatically be processed the day after your 3rd Friend registers through your link. Once the refund has been processed, you will see the refund applied to the card you paid within 3-7 business days (depending on your bank).
