Parades
Description
Due to lack of participation the boat parade has been cancelled.
Join us for a fabulous day on the waterways of beautiful Discovery Bay celebrating our beloved First Responders and Law Enforcement in our inaugural
First Responder Pontoon Boat Parade
from 11:30 to 2:30 pm on Saturday, September 18th !
We would like every entry to donation a minimum of $50 to participate in the parade but
you can always donate MORE to the first responder's fund during the registration process by using the DONATE button !!
Event proceeds will be split evenly between local
Local Law Enforcement, Fire and Medical Aid.
Don't have a boat but still want to donate? You can do that by clicking on the donate button above! We also have a 50 ft barge that can carry up to 30 people if you need a ride. Email jim@dbcf.info for details.
We would like all Pontoon boat owners to have 2 or 4 first responders ( your choice) and chauffeur them through the bays of Discovery Bay while they relax and take in the views that we enjoy daily. You can either bring first responders that you know or we will have a list and can assign them to you.
If you are part of one of the three categories mentioned above and would like to be put on the ride along list please email jim@dbcf.info with all your contact info and what you do to qualify.
The parade will begin along Kellogg Creek by Newport Bay and finish in Harbor Bay by the Discovery Bay Marina where parade-goers will be treated to a live band playing aboard a 65 foot houseboat from 2:30 to 5:00 pm. Parade route map is below. The Band ( GSB) is sponsored by Preferred Lending in Brentwood !
Parade is limited to the first 75 pontoon boats that register.
It will be the boat owner's responsibility to arrange arrival and departure procedures for the first responders to and from your boat. Please decorate your boat with anything you wish including flags.
Since there is a possibility that some may not want to stay for the band and subsequent cruise back to the boat owner's home, we suggest leaving a car at the Boardwalk Grill parking lot so guests may disembark boats prior to entering Harbor Bay if they prefer to not stay.
Common Courtesy and Parade Rules:
Absolutely NO wake. At all. Ever. Even if that means you are below 5 mph
Driver cannot consume alcohol during the parade
Vessels must keep 50 feet between each boat for safety
No loud music as we will respect all residents and other boats around us
All boats will stay in line for the entire parade
Once you have entered Harbor Bay to listen to the band either side tie to others or make sure your anchor is secure before turning off your boat. It is best to have a stern anchor as well. Harbor Bay is over 20 feet deep so be sure to have a 75 ft rope attached to your anchor.
No music allowed in your boat once the band begins. Again, please be courteous to everyone around you and help others when needed
We will have several safety vessels making sure all rules will be followed. Don't blow it! In order to make this an annual event, we must all be courteous and safe!
All boats and drivers must have all the proper documentation and safety equipment on board as stated in the “ABC’s of Boating” manual and will adhere to all coast guard rules and regulations. ABC's of Boating Link
All drivers 40 years and under must have their California state boating card to drive in this parade
