Participants can check in on Oct 23rd at the Lake Los Angeles Marketplace Evening Marketing put on next door to the Economic Center. Race Day Check in on the early morning of Oct 24th is at the Economic Center.

Race Description
Welcome,
Thank you for visiting the event website. You are looking at the 1st Annual Lake Los Angeles Desert Sunrise Event and we hope you can join us on October 24th , 2026.
The sun is expected to rise a little after 7am. Whether you're walking or running you’ll make your way through Lake Los Angeles surrounded by desert buttes, wide-open landscapes, local landmarks, and sweeping views of the Mojave Desert sunrise. The mostly paved, out-and-back course features mild elevation changes and welcomes experienced runners, casual runners, walkers, families, and community members of all abilities.
After the race, you can expect community activities and vibes. Folks and their families can enjoy the a live music experience from a local DJ facilitating the event under amazing the desert views. Folks can also connect with local organization support, discover vendor products, take pictures at the official photo booth and face paint. Spend the day in Lake Los Angeles!

Race Day check-in information will be released at a later time. Information to be emailed to registered participants and available on the website to visitors as it becomes available.
Parking will be free in designated areas.
Yes, there will be hydration stations at specific points on the course that will be marked on our course map when it becomes available.

Yes but we will not encourage it because of the steep hills you will have to overcome.
The start line and finish line will be located immediately outside of the SBCC Economic Building where the event is centralized.
Yes. Race-day registration is available on Saturday October 24th at the SBCC Economic Building. Please be aware that registration closes at 6:30a on October 24th. Participant price subject to change for the 24th.
Restrooms and porta-potties for the race will be available at the SBCC Economic Building and at the SBCC-Helping Hands Marketplace. They will be marked on a map when the event map becomes available.
We believe this 5K shall bring people together in Lake Los Angeles to celebrate the beauty, character, and community of the rural Antelope Valley while raising funds for two nonprofit organizations serving local families: SBCC and Helping Hands AV. Beyond Excellence- the for profit wellness organization, also teams up with SBCC and Helping Hands AV, on a mission to motivate participants to be the better version of the themselves.
Shirts will most likely be available at a extra cost the day of the event. All registered participants (walkers and runners) will get a finisher medal.
