It is important to the Veterans Fist Program to be transparent with its all its sponsors and supporters. The funds from the 2.2 for 22 events go to support our student veteran population in a variety of ways. Funds from past events have gone to support student veterans and the campus community in these ways.
Q: What if I am unable to do a certain challenge, how do I move forward?
A: Participants who are unable to complete a certain challenge are encouraged to do the challenge in any manner that is adaptive to their ability. For example, if you cannot complete 22 military push ups, you can do modified push ups against a wall or wheelchair push ups. Adapting a challenge can be as creative as you would like. For instance, folks who do not have a bicycle can ride a stationary bike or substitute a cycle completely by going for a walk, skateboarding, roller blading, etc.
Q: Can I make a donation without registering for the event?
A: Absolutely! Donations can be made without being a registered participant. Navigate to our donations page via the menu bar on the left side of the homepage. From there you can make donations of any amount.
Q: Do I have to do the challenges in order? Must I complete all the challenges?
A: No, you do not have to do the challenges in order. The dates next to each challenge are only there as a guide. Feel free to pick and choose when you do each challenge. You can do multiple in one day if you would like! You do not have to do each challenge, but as this is a challenge event, we encourage participants to challenge themselves in completing each one.
Q: Can I complete the same challenge over 22 days?
A: In short, yes. While we encourage participants to attempt all the challenges (physical and non physical) we understand individuals preference to do what is comfortable and safe. For example, if you would like to do a 2.2 walk for all 22 days of the event that is totally acceptable. You can log results for the same activity multiple times. This is an honor system challenge. You do not need to submit proof that you actually completed a challenge or provide evidence of a certain time or reps/task completed count. Participants are encouraged to navigate this challenge in a manner that is comfortable and safe.
Q: How do I join an existing team if I have already registered?
A: Sign in, click on my profile, manage registration, click “Teams” on the left sidebar, select join existing team, scroll down to the team you want to join then click on update team.
Q: Can I complete more than one challenge per day?
A: You are welcome to complete as many challenges in a day as you like. There is a general pace of 1 challenge per day, but participants are encouraged to go at whatever pace is comfortable for themselves.
Q: If the challenge already started, can I still join?
A: *Yes, even if you join late you can still participate and help bring awareness to the unsettling reality that 22 veterans are lost to suicide every day.
Q: How will I receive my T-shirt and medal?
A: There will be two options for receiving your T-shirt and medal. First, participants will be invited to pick up on SATURDAY, OCTOBER 22, 2022 from 10 am-12 pm at the Las Positas College Track - free parking in Lot H or Lot P. Second, participants who are unable to come to the pickup location will be mailed their T-shirt and medal to the address they have provided during registration during the week of October 24, 2022.
Q: How do I submit my results?
A: In the "RESULTS" tab click on "SUBMIT VIRTUAL RESULTS" then enter your first and last name. Next, click on “LOG ACTIVITIES” after, click on the "ACTIVITY" drop down menu to select a challenge. If the challenge is a timed challenge (e.g. 2.2 walk/run) please enter your time.
