Blue Moon Run – Important Event Update
New Date: 05/20/27
We have some unfortunate news regarding the Blue Moon Run.
A few days ago, we discovered that another large event taking place at Marine Stadium on the same day will significantly impact portions of our race course. While we knew there were several events happening in the area that weekend, our permit was approved without any concerns raised regarding nearby course conflicts.
We later learned that approximately 700 participants from another event would be occupying portions of the same beach path during a major section of our course — specifically overlapping areas between roughly their Mile 2.5 through Mile 7. This would create an extremely congested experience on an already narrow shared beach path.
Because the City uses multiple separate permitting departments, we genuinely believe this conflict was simply overlooked during the approval process, as the other event itself involved several different permit divisions.
We explored multiple solutions, including adjusting our start times earlier and later throughout the morning. Unfortunately, with multiple race distances and loop timing considerations, none of the alternatives would provide the safe and enjoyable race experience that we expect for our runners.
After careful consideration, we made the difficult decision to postpone the Blue Moon Run.
We can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that attempting to run a loop course with 700 additional people flooding the same sections of path would have created a frustrating and overcrowded experience for everyone involved, and that is not the quality of event we want to provide to our community.

🔵 Fun Blue Moon Facts
A Blue Moon happens when there are two full moons in one month
It occurs only every 2–3 years, which is why we say “once in a blue moon”
The moon isn’t actually blue — but the moment is still rare and special
This is one of those runs people remember and say: “I was there for that.”
