The Saddleback College Veterans Program and Society of American Military Engineers (S.A.M.E.) have partnered together to bring you the Second Annual Saddleback College Veteran's 5K. Spend this Veteran's Day creating memories with your family while supporting student veterans in your community. Run fast, jog, trot, walk or stroll by the Veterans Memorial and wind your way through Saddleback campus. Plenty of parking in lot 9. Event stars in the QUAD area in the CENTER of campus with lots of refreshments, and plenty of family fun. It is the picture perfect way to start celebrating Veterans Day! And don’t be afraid to wear your red, white, and blue or camo military-themed gear!
All proceeds used for emergency grants and academic support for Saddleback veterans!
All 5k finishers will receive Military dog tag necklace, and short-sleeve event shirt!
The Kids Ruck Run offers shorter distances for kids 12 years and under to earn their own ruck sack backpack and military dog tag necklace!
Top 3 winners in each age category will win a custom division award medal.

WHERE: Saddleback College, 28000 Marguerite Pkwy, Mission Viejo, CA 92691. Use main entrance off Marguerite and turn left on College Drive West.
Packet Pick up on Friday from 2-6pm. Please park in lot 9 and walk to the center of campus in the Quad area to pick up shirts, bib and register.
Race Day Pick up: Registration and packet pick up starts at 6:30. Please park in lot 9 off College Drive West and walk up ramp to center of campus.
If you miss Online registration you can sign up on Fri at packet pick up or race day. Please plan on bringing a check or credit card to register.
Race Location/ Parking: Saddleback College is located off the 5 fwy at Avery exit. Enter college off Marguerite OR Medical Center Road only. Entrance to college off Avery will be closed for the race. Park in lot 9. Race start is located in the center Quad area of the campus.

$25 for veterans, active-duty military, and Saddleback students.
Timing: All participants will receive professionally timed results. We will be utilizing the RFID timing chip, which is attached to your bib. Your bib must be visible and worn at all times to receive a final time. Your timing tag will activate and start once you cross the start line.
Description: The 5K is a fun run/ walk event for families and individuals to enjoy. Walk, jog or run through the scenic course through Saddleback College and Veterans Memorial. Professional timing, results and age division awards for those "in it to win it". Families can bring strollers, but agree to use at own risk. Walkers and Strollers, please position at the back of the pack at the start.

Fees: $20 for children ages 3-12.
We have several races for kids of all ages. The youngest divisions will start first at 9 am and all other races will follow. Each kids race is staged on a course that goes out and back. Kids can turn around at anytime. Staff will be provided along the route to help direct the kids.
The Kids Fun Run offer shorter distances for kids ages 12 and under. This is a fun military themed event that is not a timed event. This allows kids a chance to gear up and earn a custom dog tag necklace. Parents who register their kids and want to buddy up and run alongside the track with their runners may do so without registering themselves. We request only one parent per child. so there's room for all registered participants. Parents who are not registered for the 5K or kids run that want to run with their kids will not be eligible for a shirt or medal.
3 yrs. and under. Distance: 50 yds. Starts: 9 am
4-6 yrs. Distance: 100 yds. Starts: 9:10 am
7-9 yrs. Distance: 1/4 mile Starts: 9:20 am
10-12 yrs. Distance: 1/2 mile Starts: 9:30 am
Top two overall men and women will receive a custom commemorative gift bag filled with Saddleback Vets race goodies!
Division Award Medals will also be presented to the top 3 Male/Female finishers in the following age divisions:
Divisions: 3-10, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39 40-44, 45-49, 50-54,55-59 60-64, 65-69, 70-over.
Unfortunately, we are unable to mail awards to winners who aren't present, so be sure to pick up awards at the award ceremony!

Location: 2800 Marguerite Parkway Mission Viejo, CA 92692. Packet Pick up and late registration will take place at Quad area in the center of the campus. Please enter off Marguerite and turn left on College Drive West. Follow it around and park in lot 9. Walk toward center of campus where registration tables will be easily visible. Race will start at the same location at 7:30 on Saturday.
Race begins at the center of campus in the Quad area in front of the Student Services Building above parking lot 9. Race staff will be present to direct participants to race start.
Note: If you can't attend, friends and family cannot pick up your packet unless you are the parent or guardian of a registered minor participating. Each registrant and parent/guardian of minor participants must sign a waiver before the race. Waivers are required for all participants (registered or not registered participants, i.e. children in strollers), you will not be able to participate, there will be no exceptions. We are sorry for any inconveniences this may cause.
You have two options to sign and pick up your packet.
1. Saddleback College Friday, November 9th from 2pm-6pm Park in Lot 9 and then walk up to the event located in the Quad center area of campus
2. Race Day Sat. Nov 10th. (Saddleback College 28000 Marguerite Pkwy, Mission Viejo, CA 92691)

I want to register for the 5K, but I missed online registration. Can I still register?
Yes, runners who miss online registration can register in person at packet pick up on Saturday, November 9, 2018 from 2pm to 6pm at Saddleback College or register on Race day, Saturday, November 10th between 6:30 and 7:15 am at Saddleback College. Park in Lot 9. Registration and race start in Quad area in center of campus.
Prices to register on race day: $30 General Admission and $20 Kids Admission. Please arrive early to register (6:30-7:15 AM) and please be prepared to pay by Credit card or check. Medals and T-shirts sizes are only guaranteed to participants who register before Nov. 7th.
I registered online after Nov 7, am I guaranteed a shirt and medal?
Online registrations after Nov 7 are not guaranteed shirt sizes or finishers dog tag but we should have enough. Register early!
Is this course accessible for adaptive athletes, strollers, or wheelchairs?
Yes. Come one, come all! We want to ensure anyone can come support and participate in this family friendly event.
I am not a veteran, active military, or a Saddleback student. Can I still participate?
Yes! Absolutely, anyone and everyone of all ages are invited to participate. No military or Saddleback College affiliation needed to join in the fun.
I want to volunteer. How can I sign-up?
Thank you! We have a tab on the website under "more" with a link that says "volunteers." You will see all the information and can register for the time and date that works for you. You must register yourself and sign off on the waiver online or show up race day and sign the waiver in person. We absolutely need you and appreciate your support! We are looking for volunteers for shifts on Friday, November 9th for Packet Pickup and on race day Saturday, November 10th. If you have volunteer questions, please email: Brooke at firstname.lastname@example.org, and she'll be in contact with you shortly. We couldn't do this without you! :)
Can I bring my dog(s)?
We certainly wish they could, but pets are not permitted at the event. The exception is if your pup is a registered Service Dog, or an ESA (Emotional Support Animal), they are welcome to attend, but will be restricted to the Expo area. Unfortunately they will not be allowed on the course during the event. We do ask you to bring proof of registration for each registered pup you bring along.
