Description
Often times when people think of conservation work at zoos, they think of exotic wildlife such as elephants and giraffes. Though zoos do a lot of conservation work for exotic wildlife, they also do a lot for our native wildlife as well such as breeding, disease mitigation, and habitat restoration!
Join Bay Area AAZK September 25th- 30th as we hop, leap, and slither for California wildlife.
Scales, Tails, and Trails is a Virtual "5K Your Way!" Run in your neighborhood, hike on a trail, swim in a pool, or bike in a park. There is no wrong way to complete these 3 miles! You can even complete all 3 miles at one time or split them up over multiple days.
Proceeds from this event will support conservation recovery work happening at Oakland Zoo, San Francisco Zoo and Gardens, and Fresno Chaffee Zoo. Each of these zoos is participating in critical conservation work to help save native California species including the riparian brush rabbit, mountain yellow-legged frog, and blunt nosed leopard lizard.
