Event Description
Villanova Prep will host Track and Field clinics this summer for athletes ages 13-18, covering throws, hurdles, jumps, distance, sprints and cross country. There are 3 sessions offering 2 events each . Every participant will be able to attend 1 event in each session. Most sessions will have both classroom and track instruction, led by local and nationally renowned coaches. Each participant will receive a clinic shirt and lunch will be provided. Please ensure that your athlete is wearing appropriate clothing and footwear, and brings their own water bottle and a light snack. Water stations will be posted in the training area and an AT will be on site.
Each facilitator will develop a schedule for their event.

Meet the coaches
Hurdles
Coach Byrne is a highly experienced and usatf level III track and field coach specializing in the hurdles. Over many years, he has developed athletes across the sprint hurdle events, including the 100-meter hurdles, 110-meter hurdles, 300-meter and 400-meter hurdles. Known for his technical expertise, he emphasizes proper form, rhythm, and race strategy, helping athletes improve efficiency and consistency over the hurdles. His long coaching tenure has allowed him to mentor athletes at various levels, building a reputation for developing disciplined, competitive hurdlers.
Jumps -
Jeremy Fisher - Jeremy H. Fischer is the founder of Maximum Velocity Athletics and the Director of the M.V.A. Foundation, based in Chula Vista, CA. He has coached track and field and speed and agility at the international, collegiate and high school levels for over two decades. His accomplishments as a coach include 30-Olympic, Paralympic, and World medals. His coaching accomplishments include national champions, world record holders, and national record holders. Athletes under his tutelage include Chris Benard, Will Claye, Lex Gillette, Bryan McBride, Trenten Merrill, Jamie Nieto, Ketruah Orji, Brittney Reese, Ricky Roberston, Wu Ruiting, Woo Sangheok, and Jeff Skiba.
Throws
Coach Kevin Sherry has been involved in throwing since High School as an athlete and as a coach in Ventura County since 1994. During this time, he has developed over 60 Championship throwers at the League, County, CIF and State level. At every stop along his path, he has produced throwers on the top ten all-time lists for each school.
In his coaching journey he has been the throws coach at Santa Clara High School, Saint Bonaventure High School, Oxnard High School, Ventura College and currently at Rio Mesa High School. Coach Sherry has also been the Head Track and Field Coach at Santa Clara and Saint Bonaventure.
In addition to his High School and College Coaching, Coach Sherry has also coached youth track for the Camarillo Cosmos and Gold Coast Spartans.
Coach Sherry holds a USATF Level I coaching certification for all events and a Level II certification for the throws.
Distance
Coach FitzGerald has specialized in the development of sprinters and relay teams throughout his career. His athletes have won 15 California state titles and four national championships, and he has coached 15 CIF championship 4x100-meter relay teams. Remarkably, he coached a California State 100-meter champion in four different decades. His coaching honors include USA Today National Girls Track & Field Coach of the Year and induction into multiple halls of fame, including the CIF Southern Section Hall of Fame and the Ventura County Sports Hall of Fame.
In addition to his coaching accomplishments, “Coach Fitz” has been a longtime instructor in coaches’ education, serving for nearly three decades as a lead instructor for the LA84 Foundation coaching education program. He has presented at the state, national and international levels, as well as at USATF Level III coaching education. Known for his clear teaching style and practical, evidence-based approach, he is passionate about helping athletes and coaches understand the mechanics and training principles that lead to sprinting and relay success.
