Description

The Daisy Walk, hosted by the Veterans Supplemental Support Network (VSSN) is an event to inspire community building, activism awareness and accessible pathways to resources that prevent suicide among military and veteran families.

WHEN TO WALK: Please show your active support to save lives by joining Veterans Supplemental Support
Network, several nationwide supporters, school districts, dignitaries, veteran and military service
members and their families on Saturday, April 27, 2019, starting at SYSCO, 15750 Meridian Pkwy, Riverside, CA
92518 across from Riverside National Cemetery for The Daisy Walk. Check-in begins at 7:30 am and with
an opening ceremony at 8:30 am. Most walkers will be completed as early as 10:30 am, however, the
event’s ending time is approximate 11:30 am.

WHO WALKS: The Daisy Walk is an awareness walk where people of all ages and backgrounds come together
to raise awareness and show support for veteran and military family members affected by service-connected
mental illness (i.e. PTSD, anxiety, depression) which often results in suicide attempts or completion. Walkers
can express why they are walking with colored daisies (lapel pins are provided at the walk or they can bring
their own daisy) that symbolizes their connection. Red daisies represent a person who has lost a loved one or
a friend to suicide…. Gold daisies represent a person who identified with, connected to, or has/have
supported a person with suicide ideations…. Blue daisies represent a person who recognizes the struggle
and impact of suicide ideation and is in full support of raising awareness.

WHY WE WALK: Your contribution supports VSSN’s outreach services that provides a direct connection to service
and hardship relief for the over half a million veterans, military, and families affected by service-connected
mental illness (PTSD, Anxiety and/or Depression). Our goal is to grow from 500 walkers to at least 1,000 walkers bringing 3 counties together under one national cause in its second year!

YOUR INVOLVEMENT: VSSN’s goal through your Daisy Walk registration and/or monetary gifts is to provide accessible resources to a growing community of service-connected individuals and supporters. Sponsors may receive their own exhibitor space at the walk, press and digital promotions in various media outlets,  logo placement at the event and throughout VSSN's media content, a hyperlink on the event website, logo placement on walker t-shirts, social media blasts, event signage, and more! Major donors may receive VIP treatment, tented rest areas, and all-inclusive dining and refreshments!
