San Diego MLK 5K Walk / Fun Run

Walk, jog or run!  Join us on Harbor Dr. to celebrate MLK weekend in a healthy fashion with a scenic Embarcadero experience!  This 5K Walk / Fun Run celebrates the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his dream to improve the equal participation of all in healthcare, education and workforce development.  We're inspired to help move our community toward a more healthy way of living.  What better way to do that than with the objective of completing a 5k.  Bring your family and friends (human and furry) to the Embarcadero and get moving with us!  See you at the starting line! 

We hope to inspire those who have never taken part in a 5K walk / run, to participate.  This event promotes health, fitness, and a general sense of well-being through a fun and engaging manner.

We encourage you to post your photos on Social Media with #SDMLK5k.  

Registration includes the following. 

• Official 5K walk / fun run Shirt.
• Medal
• Runners Bib
• Chip race timing

***If you've registered after 1/6 you only have the option of the free race without the shirt, medal or bib. 

5K particulars:

• Start Line Location: 1492 N. Harbor Dr. (Near county admin. building.)
• Start Time: 9:30AM
• Finish Line Location:  Ruocco park 
• Scenic 3.1-mile course down Harbor Dr., Pacific Hwy, crossing into Seaport Village and looping around Embarcadero Marina Park South with a finish at Ruocco Park
• Timing offered.

1 Mile Cruiser Walk / Run:

• Start Line Location: 1492 N. Harbor Dr. (Near county admin. building.)
• Start Time: 9:30AM
• Finish Line Location:  Ruocco park
• Scenic 1-mile course down Harbor Dr., Pacific Hwy, crossing into Seaport Village with a finish at Ruocco Park.
• No timing.

Virtual participation:  (Anytime & Anyplace!)

For participants who can’t make it to the site but still want to participate and benefit the San Diego Alpha Foundation (501c3)!  Please sign up with the virtual option.  Complete your distance anytime & anyplace during race week and post your results to the virtual leaderboard.  Your race shirt and medal will be mailed to you within 2 weeks of the event date.  

Race packet pickup:

• Time:  3pm - 8pm
• Place:  Jackie Robinson YMCA (151 YMCA Way, San Diego, CA 92102). 

You can also pick up the day of the 5k onsite during check in.
