Description

What:  The Run with a PAAL 5K (A competitive, timed & certified 5K run, 5K Community Walk & 1K Kids Fun Run). Awards ceremony and pancake social immediately following. Awards will be presented by Montebello Chief of Police Kevin McClure and a special guest.

When: Saturday, March 7, 2015 (8 am Start time)

Where: Legg Lake at Whittier Narrows (Start/Check-in at Picnic Area D8), 751 South Santa Anita Avenue, South El Monte, California

-Limited Free parking (First come, first serve) on Santa Anita. All other paid lots & lot on Durfee is $6/vehicle.

The Run with a PAAL 5K Run + Walk will be our inaugural 5K event. The Run with a PAAL 5K is a fun, healthy and kid friendly event catering to runners, health walkers and families who seek to raise their heart rates and have the heart to support a noble cause. The Run with a PAAL 5K is a fundraiser that will help fund the Montebello PAAL to support programs and services for youth in the region.

About the Montebello PAAL                                                                                                                                                  The Montebello Police Athletic and Activities League (PAAL), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization, is a recreation-oriented program utilizing athletics and activities to tighten the bond between police officers and community youth. It provides resources and opportunities to youth while also building the relationship between local law enforcement and the community. PAAL programs and activities are provided to youth in the region at low to no cost and no participants are ever turned away based upon their ability to pay.

Mission Statement: The mission of the Montebello Police Athletic and Activities League is dedicated to building self-esteem and confidence in our local youth through sports and recreational activities. The league’s goal is to have a positive impact that will result in our youth developing into responsible, productive and respectful citizens.

Beneficiary of Event: The Montebello PAAL, which serves youth ages 5 – 24 years old in the region (including, but not limited to: Montebello, Bell Gardens, South El Monte, Monterey Park, East Los Angeles, Whittier, Downey, Commerce, Bell Gardens). The current programs that are offered are Basketball, Boxing, Run Club, Workforce Skills Training, and Tutoring (coming soon). Additionally, the Montebello PAAL provides several free events and activities throughout the year (i.e. Youth Sports Day at UCLA, Movie in the Park, etc.).
