Running Dead 5K Fun Run

Check-In: 8 am | Race Begins: 9 am
They’re back! The Zombies are hungry and out for your flags! Join us this October as we run and dodge our way to the finish line at the Running Dead 5k Fun Run & Walk. This fun community event is a great way to get friends and family active while also celebrating the Halloween holiday. Award medals are handed out to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners of each registration category broken down by age group and gender Youth Ages 12 & Under, Ages 13-17, 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+). We will also have awesome prize raffles for participants after finishing the race, with a special raffle held for those who survive the Zombie challenge.
Zombie Challenge:
All registrants can opt into this challenge by picking up a pair of flags at the main event area. The Union City Youth Commission will be spread out at select locations along the race trail dressed as Zombies, and they will be out to get your flag. Those who finish the race with at least 1 flag left on their hip will be entered into a special raffle to win a cool Halloween themed prize.
A limited amount of race shirts will be available on the day of the race. Make sure to get there on time to purchase.
* All pre-registrations for the race will be closed on October 18 by 4:30pm, however, we will be taking walk-up registrations on the day of the race starting at 8am October 19. Please come early! The race will go on rain or shine!

Race Shirts are not included in the registration fee. Race shirts can be purchase as a add on by September 27, 2024.

This race takes place rain or shine, make sure to dress for the weather conditions!

Costume Contest:
Get into the Halloween spirit and be apart of our costume contest! You will have a chance to win some fun prizes. No need to sign-up. Our judges will be on the lookout for the best costumes starting from 8am-8:30am, and a few lucky winners will be announced at 8:45am just before the start of the race. Just make sure to wear comfortable shoes for the actual run.
Trail Route
This race starts off at Union City-City Hall and enters into the Alameda Creek Trail. You would run along this trail and follow the signs, until you reach a turnaround point and head back to finish at City Hall. Please find the link below.
