Celebrated as one of the 20 Best Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trots in America, the CPI Security Turkey Trot is a Charlotte Thanksgiving Day tradition for the past 37 years. The largest road race in North Carolina with a record 12,233 participants in 2025 is a homecoming destination for extended families, former classmates, and a place to celebrate with your neighbors. The community comes together to kick off the holiday season with a fun and healthy run or walk before heading home for food and family. Starting and finishing at the SouthPark Mall, participants can choose from a 8K Run, a 5K Run/Walk, a 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk and a 50-yard Tot Trot (for kids up to 8 years old).

Registration will open approximately 100 days prior to Thanksgiving. Make sure to register early to get the best pricing and ensure your spot. Registration will close when the event sells out or by EOD on Wednesday, November 25th.

The CMPD Explorer's Holiday Toy Drive is an important part of the Charlotte Turkey Trot tradition. We are proud to promote and support this 52-year-old charitable initiative and ask our participants to join us in providing financial resources or unwrapped toys for families in need.
