Virtual Rider

Can't make it on April 25th but still want to ride to support the YMCA Parkinson's Exercise Program? Register for the virtual rider!

Description

Every dollar raised through the Inaugural YMCA Parkinson’s Bike-a-thon will help cover expenses for the Parkinson’s Exercise Program (PEP) program, which will keep costs to participants low and ensure this high-impact program is accessible for all, while raising awareness of Parkinson’s Disease in Colorado Springs!

This four-hour event will host over 100 participants riding at the YMCA at First and Main Center. Riders will raise funds to support the PEP program in teams of 4.  Don't have a team of 4? That's ok! We'll find you teammates!  Each rider will ride for one hour. We anticipate that many with Parkinson's will ride, as well as family and friends riding in honor of someone they love with the disease.

Can't make it on the 25th? Ride virtually where you ride at your own time and location and help support the PEP program!

Parkinson's Exercise Program

The Reason for the Ride

Parkinson’s Disease is progressive and incurable, impacting over 17,000 in Colorado. Parkinson’s can be life-altering, not just for those with the disease but for their family, friends and caregivers. But the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region is there for those living with Parkinson’s, providing support through our innovative evidence-based program - Parkinson’s Exercise Program (PEP).

PEP does more than just getting those with Parkinson’s  moving - participants actually see a reduction of symptoms by 35%, increasing their independence and quality of life. Every year, nearly 120 people living with this disease participate in the Parkinson’s Exercise Program. And while the results of the program are impressive, participants pay little to nothing to attend. 75% of the program costs are covered through donations and gifts from generous people and businesses, just like you.

We are excited to invite you to be part of the inaugural YMCA Pedaling for a Purpose! This fundraising event will ensure the YMCA can continue to offer PEP - a program that truly makes a difference for those with Parkinson’s. Get in on the ground floor for this amazing event that will ensure that PEP continues to make a difference and change lives!
