** RACE INFORMATION **
At HPRS, personal accountability is valued above all else. All runners are expected to arrive at the event, 100% prepared, having trained and read and/or watched all race-related materials. You can find the Pre-Race Informational Email HERE, and the Pre-Race Meeting Video HERE.
Registration Notes for 100-Mile & 100k (ONLY)
* The 100-Mile (ONLY) has a volunteer requirement. If you are a runner displaced by the cancellation of the Ouray 100, we know you satisfied the requirement for that event, and you're all set. If you are anyone else, you will be required to pay the $150 volunteer buy-out in addition to your registration fee.
* The 100-Mile and 100K (ONLY) have a mandatory pre-race meeting on Thursday Night at 6:45pm. If you cannot or do not make this meeting, you will not be allowed to run in either distance, but will be allowed to run a shorter distance. If you plan to run the 100-Mile or 100k, you need to register on Thursday Night and attend the meeting. There are no exceptions to these rules.
* The 100-Mile and 100k (ONLY) also have a mandatory gear requirement. All runners in these events must carry the following from Miles 7.7 to 58: Winter hat and gloves, emergency blanket (Mylar), headlamp with extra batteries or a way to charge it, and a rain jacket and/or poncho. Failure to show these items at the Handcart aid station will result in disqualification. You may instead run a shorter distance.
**AFFECTED BY CANCELATION DUE TO WILDFIRES?**
HPRS recognizes that a few races across Colorado may be canceled due to the current wildfire situation. If you are reading this, we are 100% planning to host our event, with the understanding that air quality could be poor during Silverheels. We acknowledge the difficult decision that race directors must make regarding the health and safety of all runners, crews, spectators, pacers, and local EMS during their event. We also acknowledge that you've trained for many months, either to do something epic or simply to play in the woods with your village.
WE WANT TO HELP. If the race you were intending to run has been canceled due to wildfires and/or smoke (currently, only the Ouray 100), send us an email with some form of confirmation of your registration for that event, and we will provide you with a code to sign up for Silverheels at a discounted rate.
Ultramarathon running has always been a sport built on community. We see the members of our broader trail and ultra community who are disappointed that what they've trained for many months is no longer happening. We feel your heartache and frustration. We also have empathy for our colleague race directors. While we can't necessarily help them, we can help you. Chin up, chest out, LET'S RUN. Come see what HPRS is all about and what sets us apart as something radically different. We've got you.
Description
The Human Potential Running Series Presents:
The Silverheels Trail Runs @ COMO ROUNDHOUSE
The Silverheels Trail Runs take place at an average elevation of over 10,000’, in one of the most visually stunning areas of Colorado. The course features a mixture of single track trails and fire roads, with a few stretches of dirt road; it takes runners through high alpine and sub-alpine meadows loaded with wild flowers, with expansive views of the South Park Valley and beneath the towering "Decalibron" 14er's. You'll run through ghost towns, past abandoned mines, awe at the wildflowers in full bloom, and dance under the watchful eye of Silverheels Mountain herself and the ever stunning Milky Way Galaxy. Our 10-Mile and 18-Mile options are run on the gorgeous Gold Dust Trail traveling through massive aspen groves, over many high mountain creeks, through old mining encampments, and along a miners ditch hand dug by those in the late 1800s.
