The Move Forward 5K/10K is an event created by the Doctor of Physical Therapy students at Regis University as a community outreach project. Proceeds from the event benefit Canine Companions for Independence and the Foundation for Physical Therapy.
Race Details and Mission
Experienced runners, casual runners and walkers, well-behaved on-leash dogs, and families are all welcome to participate in this event. The date of the next year's event is TBD (as of 11/20/23). Along with raising funds for the Foundation for Physical Therapy and Canine Companions for Independence, the Move Forward 5K/10K has a number of other goals. These goals include facilitating and encouraging physical activity within the community, as well as raising awareness regarding the role of PT in health promotion and wellness. Through the efforts of Doctor of Physical Therapy students and their sponsors, we can make this event a race for the Denver community while raising funds to support critical research for rehabilitation and providing service dogs to individuals with disabilities.
Kids 12 years and under run for free with their registered parents and/or guardians on the same course for the 5k/10k races. Ages 13 and older, please register above. There is no age limit to participate!
Race Day Registration
You are able to register up to the start of the race. If you are planning on registering the day of, we recommend arriving 30 minutes to 1 hour prior to race start time. Race Day registration will begin at 7:30 AM on Race Day at the Registration Table in front of the Student Center in the quad.
**PLEASE NOTE Registrations after September 10th are NOT guaranteed their chosen T-shirt size.
Packet Pickup and T-Shirts
Packets (T-shirts included) can be picked up at Regis University, right next to parking lot 4 on the Friday prior to Race Day from 5:00-7:00 PM in Claver Hall OR on Race Day starting at 7:30 AM at the Registration Table in front of the Student Center in the quad. T-shirt size will be guaranteed with all registrations by September 10th, 2023. All registrations after this date will not be guaranteed their chosen T-shirt size.
Free Breakfast Burrito A breakfast burrito will be provided to all participants of the in-person race. Enjoy your breakfast burrito with your friends or family, and celebrating completing the race.
Teams of at least 5 members will receive a 10% discount. Teams of at least 10 members will receive a 15% discount. Discount is not applied to virtual runners.
Jogging strollers are welcome in all races. Please be considerate of other racers and start in the back of the pack. All dogs on leashes are welcome in all races.
Individuals who opt for the virtual race option will have a span of 1 week to complete. Please send us pictures with captions of the completion of your 5k/10k to our social media links (links below)! We would love to see your accomplishments as well as share them with other runners!
The starting point of the race is at Regis University and there will be volunteers to guide you to the starting point as well as along the way. Streets will be blocked off and there will be cones and arrows to guide you through the route. The 5K turn-around is halfway along the second pond on the map after the 1st-mile marker, 10K is at Nolan street - take the exact route back. There will be water stations at the turn-around points. The attached route/map below may be misleading.
Participants and supporters can park for free in the Regis University Lots 4 and 6. Street parking is subject to local and state regulations enforced 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
For the safety and protection of our Move Forward 2023 5K/10K community, we will continue to follow the CDC and local government guidelines and provide updates on this website. All registered participants are encouraged to visit this website prior to the race for the most up-to-date news closer to race day.
