Description

The inaugural Durango Marathon & Half Marathon debuts on October 11, 2026, and you are invited to experience one of Colorado’s most beautiful mountain towns at the height of fall. Set against crisp high-country air and peak autumn foliage, this road race showcases scenic paved routes winding through and around Durango, with a start and finish near historic downtown and the iconic Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad Station. Whether you’re tackling the full 26.2 or the half marathon, you’ll be treated to expansive views, quiet roads, and a course designed for rhythm, scenery, and celebration.

Built as a true destination race, the Durango Marathon combines professional race operations with small-town hospitality. Expect fully supported aid stations, accurate timing, high-quality finisher medals and shirts, and a welcoming finish-line atmosphere with music, awards, and local flavor. Most of the course runs on wide road shoulders with minimal closures, keeping the experience safe, smooth, and community-friendly while highlighting the landscapes that make Durango special.

More than a race, the Durango Marathon is a weekend experience. October is one of the best times to explore the region—perfect for extending your stay with family or friends to enjoy fall hiking, local breweries, vibrant restaurants, and downtown shopping. We can’t wait to welcome you to Durango for a new tradition rooted in endurance, community, and the unforgettable beauty of fall in the San Juan Mountains.
