**WAIT LIST**
The Sawmill Trail Runs has a capacity limit of 200 Runners. For the first time ever, the event sold out prior to November 1st. We reached out to our partners at Staunton State Park to request an increase of 50 runners bringing our capacity limit to 250. This request was approved.
We removed the previous wait list and re-opened registration for up to 250 runners. We oversell at 275 as we anticipate our usual 15-20% no-show rate on race day. Once we reach 275 registrants, the wait list will be turned back on.
The wait list is first-come first-served. If a runner drops out from the event, this will open a spot for individuals on the wait list. At that time the 1st person available on the waitlist will receive an email via RunSignUp.com welcoming them to register for the event. They will then have 24-hours to register for the event. After 24-hours the invite to register will expire and we will move on to the next runner in line on the wait list. If the initial wait lister who missed their 24 hour window to register wishes to try again, they will have to jump back onto the wait list as the last in line.
TYPICALLY the closer we get to race day the less movement we see with the wait list. We will turn the opportunity to join the wait list off on December 1st. If we are still at 275 registrants by December 3rd, there will be no opportunity to register on race morning. Thank you for your understanding.
Description
The Human Potential Running Series Presents:
The Sawmill Trail Runs @ Staunton State Park
The Sawmill Trail Runs; first started as a “Fat Ass” event at White Ranch Open Space in Golden, CO in December 2013. We incorporated it into an official trail race starting in December 2017. In 2021, this event was moved to its new home at Staunton State Park in Pine, CO featuring 50k, 16-Mile, and 8-Mile distance options.
Staunton State Park is a gem within Colorado’s State Park system. From high grassy meadows at 8,100 feet to soaring granite cliffs over 10,000 feet, Staunton State Park’s varied geology, soils, water features, and climate support rare and unexpected plant communities and a rich diversity of wildlife and provide a myriad of outdoor recreation opportunities. The park is located approximately 40 miles southwest of downtown Denver, north of US Highway 285 and about six miles west of Conifer in Pine, CO.
Special Event Notes: Traction devices such as micro-spikes are welcome should conditions permit. Snowshoes will also be permitted in the event of snow depths exceeding 6″. No other flotation devices will be approved. In the event of deep snow and treacherous conditions on the 50k’s first loop, the loop will be closed and we’ll ask 50k runners to endure the 16-Mile course, twice consecutively.
