2020 OMT and MMT cancelled but back in 2021!

New Date: May 15 2021

Due to the coronavirus outbreak, the CDC has recommended no events of 50 or more people through May 11, 2020, 2 days after our scheduled race. This is a rapidly changing disease with ongoing changes to our daily lives.  We will not be able to get highway permits or law enforcement assistance with the ongoing situation.  And honestly, we would just love to hit reset and have a fun, successful and healthy event for all of us in 2021.

Like most races, we have a no refund policy on our race. But we do not have high costs invested in this race yet and we know a lot of families are dealing with cut hours or unemployment.  So we can offer the 116 registered participants in OMT and 19 in MMT the following options:

  • Refund of your race entry fee minus transaction fees which are beyond our control
  • Defer your entry to the 2021 comeback race
  • Donate your registration to cover expenses our local triathlon club of volunteers have already incurred.

For those of you who purchased a USAT license to race, they are offering a number of options also:

  • You can use the license all 2020 for youth so it will be needed if you can race in other events in 2020.
  • If you defer your MMT registration to our 2021 event, we are told they will honor this license on that day.
  • If you prefer a refund for our event, you might automatically have this license refunded by runsignup for USA Triathlon.  That was a separate transaction from our race entry fee. This is outside our control, you might need to contact hem later at membership@usatriathlon.org

You MUST sign into your runsignup account to process your request!

Please understand this race is hosted by a few volunteers trying to share our love of triathlon and raise funds for important local efforts.  The two volunteer organizers work in a hospital that will be greatly impacted by the virus and working long hours.  We probably will not be able to respond to questions in a timely manner. Check out questions already asked on the Facebook page:  https://www.facebook.com/OrdinaryMortals/  And thank you for your patience and understanding as we fulfill our roles as healthcare workers in this crisis. This crisis is also putting a huge demand on the runsignup platform so please be patient with them also.

Here Are Your Options:

We will transfer your registration to the May 15, 2021 (tentative date), and look forward to having you join us. Thanks for your support of our race and your patience!  Safe safe and healthy, wash your hands often, avoid crowds and spread of germs!

Thank you for understanding events are expensive, even when cancelled, and you want us to keep your registration fees to help cover our costs. We deeply appreciate your generosity and look forward to seeing you at an event soon.   Safe safe and healthy, wash your hands often, avoid crowds and spread of germs!

We hope you can join us next time.  The refund will be minus non-refundable transaction fees and taxes we already paid.  We are told by USAT they too will refund your one-day license if you purchased it during registration but unsure how that will happen.  You will need to contact them directly at a later date if you do not see the credit.  This is a completely different transaction than the race entry.

Please be patient as 10,000 races are at risk of cancellation so the runsignup system may experience some delays.  Safe safe and healthy, wash your hands often, avoid crowds and spread of germs!

Description

Mini Mortals Triathlon (MMT) is a reverse order youth triathlon following the Ordinary Mortals race and distances are based on the age of participant on 12/31. For example a child turning 9 at any point during the year will compete in the 9-11 year age group and distance:

  • 5-8 years:  0.5 mile run, 1.6 mile bike, 25 yard (one length) swim. One parent may escort on course.
  • 9-11 years: 1 mile run, 4.4 mile bike, 150 yard swim (3 lap) swim.
  • 12-15 years: 2 mile run, 7.2 mile bike, 300 yard swim (6 lap) swim.

This event often attracts several families of two or three generations racing together the same day!  Also check out the adult triathlon the Ordinary Mortals Triathlon for parents and grandparents!
