Welcome to the Colorado Peaks Challenge 2020/2021, presented by 3W Races.
We are thrilled to be producing this challenge! Our team has collectively hiked a 14er TWENTY SIX times! We're pretty proud of our mountains! There is some debate amongst "14er experts" as to whether there are officially 52, 53 or 58 peaks that rise about 14,000ft. We have chosen to recognize all 58 peaks rising over 14,000 ft and have come up with the following challenge!
Run, walk, hike, bike, swim, jog or whatever....for a total of 645.25 miles! This is the distance that you will travel if you were to hike to the summit and return to your starting point of all 58 peaks! From the shortest distance of 3.25 miles (Mt. Bross) to the longest hike of 24 miles (Pikes Peak) you will receive a digital badge for each peak distance you conquer!! (58 in all)!
For a truly daunting challenge you could attempt the same elevation gain as well! The total overall elevation gained by hiking all 58 peaks is a staggering 254,450 ft! To put that into perspective: that is the same as climbing 18,175 floors!
The Challenge kicks off on November 27 - the day AFTER Thanksgiving. This is a virtual challenge so that athletes from across the nation can join in during this season of quarantine and social distancing. Don't worry if you miss our official start date, we'll let you start ANY DAY up to Valentine's Day when registration closes. You'll have until the end of March, 2021 to log your miles and report!
During the challenge run, jog, walk, swim, row or bike as many miles as you desire each day. Log your miles through our online tracker and it will compile your daily miles into a cumulative total and show your progress along our virtual route! When you join a TEAM of up to 6, all of your miles are compiled to show total progress. If your buddy in Vermont hikes 10 miles today while you run 5 miles in Washington, your daily total is 15 miles of progress in the virtual Rocky Mountains!
