Your first summit or...
The hardest endurance event on Earth.
Both live here.
IronHike is a veteran-owned elevation-based endurance event series and New England's premier vertical trail endurance event series. No lifts. No shortcuts. No gondola. Earn every up and every down. The self-powered Everesting alternative on the East Coast - where you earn every descent.
If you've done 5Ks, half marathons, or weekend hikes and keep asking what's next - this is what's next. No running required. If you can walk up a mountain repeatedly, you can do this.
You won't go up alone. The Tribe is already there - at 2 AM, at the base, on the trail. Shared suffering builds something that finish-line medals don't.

👥 Trail Buddy. Partner up for shared endurance.
👥👥 Trail Family. A FlexRelay team of four tackling mileage and elevation together.

Mountain Athletes' Guide - Mohawk Mountain
Everything you need to know about the course, the venue, training, gear, and what to expect on the mountain. Read it before you arrive.

The FlexRelay Format
At IronHike we use a FlexRelay format for each of our Events. We call them FlexRelays because they are flexible. Each team member, whether in the Trail Buddy or Trail Family event, has no minimum or maximum laps, mileage, elevation, or time on the course. Teams manage who is on the mountain for how long and when, according to conditions, fitness levels, and the needs of the team.
Common Questions
Do I need to be a runner? No. IronHike is a hiking Event. If you can walk up a mountain repeatedly and keep moving, you can do this. Running is never required.
What if I can't finish? Every lap is earned. There is no shame in stopping. Every Mountain Athlete sets their own ceiling - the Event ends when you decide it ends, or when the Final Bell rings.
Cancellations, Deferrals & Transfers
Policy: No refunds, deferrals, or transfers between series. Upon request, you may receive an 80% credit toward any future event (no expiration). All sales final.
We do not offer refunds or deferrals. However, if you are unable to attend your registered event, we can provide a single-use coupon for 80% off any future registration with no expiration date. The remaining 20% acts as a change fee to help cover overhead and processing fees. Transfers within the same series are allowed on a case-by-case basis.
IronHike Endurance Productions
Who We Are
IronHike Endurance Productions is a veteran-owned endurance event series built by US Army veterans who hike, coach, and compete. We produce elevation-based endurance events and multi-day mountain endurance events at Mohawk Mountain Ski Area in Cornwall, Connecticut. The Mohawk Mountain endurance event series runs Spring and Fall each year. Our FlexRelay format lets Mountain Athletes compete Solo, as a Trail Buddy pair, or as a Trail Family of four. This is not a race endurance event. There is no podium, no finish line prize, and no gondola. Every foot of elevation gain is self-powered, earned one lap at a time, by athletes from 29 states and 3 countries who came here to prove themselves right.
The Events
IronHike offers seven elevation-based endurance events ranging from a 12-hour endurance event to an 84-hour endurance event, covering 7,140 to 72,590 feet of vertical gain at Mohawk Mountain in Cornwall, Connecticut. For athletes looking for a self-powered Everesting or an affordable Everesting alternative on the East Coast - the definitive Everesting alternative East Coast athletes have been searching for - IronHike is the answer. We are the leading 29029 alternative and Barkley Marathons alternative in the USA, and the Olympus Mons Ultra is ranked as one of the hardest ultra in the world and the hardest endurance hiking event in the USA. The Answer the Bell Ultra is a backyard ultra on a mountain and a last person standing ultra. Our FlexRelay team endurance event format makes multi-day ultra endurance and vertical trail endurance accessible to athletes at every level across trail endurance events USA-wide. The Olympus Mons Ultra is the hardest endurance hiking event USA has ever produced.
The Tribe
The IronHike Mountain Athlete Tribe is a shared suffering endurance community and personal transformation endurance experience built from the ground up by veteran endurance sports athletes who believe that personal transformation happens on a mountain. Athletes from across the country and beyond register as Solo Mountain Athletes, Trail Buddy pairs, and Trail Family teams to earn every foot of elevation together. The IronHike Tribe spans 29 states and 3 countries, coached and supported by IronCoach Patty and the veteran-owned Cadre who run every Event alongside them. You show up, you belong, and you prove yourself right one lap at a time.
What Makes Us Different
IronHike is a self-supported mountain ultra series where every foot of elevation gain is earned under your own power - no gondola, no lift, no shortcuts. As a veteran-owned endurance event operating at Mohawk Mountain Ski Area in Cornwall, Connecticut, IronHike delivers East Coast ultra endurance at a level that rivals the hardest events in the world. We are the most affordable Everesting alternative and the most accessible 29029 alternative on the East Coast, with elevation gain events designed around the FlexRelay format that no other trail endurance event USA-wide can match. Every Mountain Athlete who shows up leaves having earned something that cannot be bought, only proven.
