Description

Step into Spring with Fairfield Community Services at our Annual Beach Bunny 5K - a cherished community tradition at beautiful Jennings Beach! Whether you run, walk, skip or hop your way along the course, this event is all about celebrating movement, togetherness and the joy of being outdoors after a long winter!  

 

Bring your family, friends, neighbors and little ones for a morning filled with festive fun. In addition to the 5K run, families can enjoy the Bunny Hop (1 mile walk) children's egg scrambles and our "Bunny Burrow" a lively event village featuring a DJ, roving magician, face painters, balloon twisters, a petting zoo, photos with the Easter Bunny and delicious food & beverages available for purchase. Our Sponsor Square also highlights local partners who help make this tradition possible.

No matter your pace or age, The Beach Bunny 5K is a chance to come together, get moving and share a feel-good community experience by the water. We can't wait to celebrate with you. Now Let's Get Hoppin!

March 13th: Guaranteed shirt sizing ends March 13th. After this date, shirts are "As Available" and we could run out. 
March 23rd - March 27th: T-Shirt & Bib Pickup at Fairfield Parks & Recreation daily, 9:00am - 4:00pm
Mrach 28th: Event Day 
     8:00am Bib Pickup for the 5K 
     8:45am Introduction & National Anthem

The Beach Bunny 5K is a 5K, 3.1mi distance, computer chip-timed event. Participants of all abilities are welcome to run or walk this event. Registration fee includes Computer Chipped-Bib. 

FAMILY BUNNY HOP                 ALL PARTICIPANTS

The Bunny Hop is a free, family-friendly walk; just under 1mile in length. It is not timed and registration does not include a T-Shirt or bib. This .8mi walk is perfect for the entire family (including your four-legged family members!)! Costumes encouraged! Let's see those Bunny Ears! 

EASTER EGG SCRAMBLES     ALL PARTICIPANTS

The children's Easter Egg Scrambles are free community events taking place on Jennings Beach. Parents, please take note:The Easter Egg Scramble for children 5 & younger starts at 10:50am sharp!  The Easter Egg Scramble for children 6 & older starts at 10:55am sharp! Please note this event is BYOB (Bring your own Basket!) 

FAQ

Who is hosting this event?  The event is hosted by Fairfield Community Services. All proceeds raised from The Beach Bunny 5K will be used to fund future Community Services programs and events. Your generous support and financial contribution enable us to put together a full calendar of community events and programs. 

Will there be food?! Candlewood Market will be onsite selling coffee, tea and packaged pastries and treats. Breakfast Sammies will be available to purchase from Tasty Yolk. Complimentary water, granola bars and bananas will be available for our runners. 

Do you have a New Starting Line? YES! The new starting line for both the 5K course and the Bunny Hop will be located on Fairfield Beach Road, just past the entrance to the Fairfield Beach Club. This change was made to address the bottleneck challenge experienced over the past two years. Relocating the starting line will ensure a safer, faster start and eliminate the constricted return.


We will still gather in the Jennings Lot and walk to the new starting line once Fairfield Police have closed the road. Thank you for your understanding and support of this improvement!


What is the Bunny Burrow
? We've planned some fun, free activities beachside at the Jennings Concession Building! Painted You will be onsite twisting balloons, face painting, and applying glitter tattoos. Don't miss the chance to take pictures with the Easter Bunny, and keep an eye out for Danny Magic, a roving magician ready to amaze you with his tricks!

Do I need to bring a basket for the Easter Egg Scrambles?  Yes! If you plan on participating in our complimentary children's Easter Egg Scrambles, please plan to BYOB (Bring your own basket!) 


Are you selling those awesome Beach Bunny Shirts? Yes! Beach Bunny Shirts will be available for purchase onsite, located at the "Open Inventory" Tent. Shirts are $15 each and payable by credit card. 

Are strollers permitted? Yes! Runners and walkers are invited to participate while pushing a baby jogger and stroller. We ask you to stay towards the back of the line to allow runners to pass easily.  Show us your spirit!! Costumery & stroller decoration strongly recommended!


Are dogs permitted?
Yes! Furry family members are allowed at our 5K run/walk as long as they are leash trained and do well in crowds. We also ask that pet parents take care of pet duties responsibly. Show us your spirit!! Costumery is strongly recommended! 

Rain or Shine?  Please note our 5K will be taking place, rain or shine. In the case of inclement weather, we will reschedule our Children's Easter Egg Scrambles for Saturday April 4, 2026. Bunny ears crossed for good weather! 

What is your Refund Policy?  Due to the fundraising nature of this event, please note that refunds are not available. 

PARKING

Complimentary Parking is located onsite at Jennings Beach 880 South Benson Road, Fairfield CT 06824. Please note, there is no parking along the J4 - J6 Fenceline (also known as the "dog leg"). If you prefer to stay further removed from the festivities, you can always park at  Penfield Pavilion Complex (323 Fairfield Beach Road, Fairfield, CT 06824) or the Ash Creek Open Space Parking Lot (471 Turney Road, Fairfield CT 06824) and walk over. Arrive early! We expect lots to fill! 

SWAG

Whether you are running, walking, skipping or hopping our Beach Bunny 5K, you're sure to live "hoppily" ever after in your new Softstyle shirt! This awesome 50/50 cotton/polyester blend comes in Graphite Heather and is the type of shirt you wear long after the 5K! Shirt size choices will not be guaranteed after March 13, 2026. After that, shirts are only "As Available" and we could run out.


Shirt & Bib pickup available at Parks & Recreation (75 Mill Plain Road, Fairfield CT 06824)  Monday March 23rd through Friday March 27th  9:00am - 4:00pm daily. We will also have bib pickup starting at 8:00am on event day, Saturday March 28th, at Jennings Beach (880 South Benson Road, Fairfield CT 06824). Upon arrival, please proceed to the Parks & Recreation Tent adjacent to the Concession Building.  

RESULTS & AWARDS

Results will be emailed to registered participants of our 5K who have enabled result notifications. A QR Code will also be posted on the wall of the Jennings Beach Concession Building, alongside our Registration Tent, with a link to results in progress. 

We are egg-stremely egg-cited to offer the following awards: First, Second & Third Place Edible Medallions, care of Noteworthy Chocolates, will be awarded to the age groups 9 & under, 10 - 13, 14 - 18, 19 - 29, 30 - 39, 40 - 49, 50 - 59, 60 - 69, 70 - 79 and 80+.  1st place age group edible medallions will be awarded to our non-binary competitors. Grand Prize Cookie Platters will be awarded to the overall fastest Male, Female & Non-Binary Runners, courtesy of Alina's Cakes & Cookies

There will be a brief recognition of our overall fastest Beach Bunny 5K Champions (with photo op, of course). Age group awards will be distributed from a table (next to our timing van) at the finish line as soon as the results are made readily available. If you leave early or are unable to take your medal upon leaving, we'll have the medals available for pickup the week of Mrach 30th - April 2nd at our Parks & Recreation Office (75 Mill Plain Road, Fairfield CT 06824). Please note, due to the edible nature of these medals, we will discard (or eat!) any remaining medals after April 6th!
