Description

In-Person Race:  Sunday, June 2, 2024 – Glastonbury Hubbard Green (8:30 a.m.)

The Glastonbury Education Foundation 5K Run/Walk (or “GEF5K”) is a rebranding of the Bill Landers Building Bridges Memorial Hybrid 5K Run/Walk (or "BL5K"), which the Foundation has sponsored in Glastonbury, Connecticut, since 2008.

The 16th annual event will only feature an in-person race .  The in-person race will be held on Sunday, June 2, 2024 at the Hubbard Green in Glastonbury.  The race will begin at 8:30 a.m., and travel along the former BL5K route, with bib chip timing.  The race is sanctioned, and serves as a qualifier for the Manchester Road Race.  Parking for the race will be available at Glastonbury High School, 330 Hubbard Street in Glastonbury.

The GEF5K is sponsored by the Glastonbury Education Foundation, and enhances the Foundation's ability to fund programs, projects and initiatives that elevate the educational experience of Glastonbury residents.  Proceeds from the GEF5K will be used to award scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each to a graduating senior of Glastonbury High School who attends a public or private four-year university in Connecticut.

Event instructions

Welcome! We are so glad that you could join us today.

We will be using the single use bibs with chips. Please ensure the following in order to receive an accurate time:

Race bib is clearly visible on the front of the torso
Race bib is unaltered and unmodified (Do not fold or wrinkle)
Race bib is pinned in all four corners
Race bib is not covered (jackets, runner belts, water bottles, etc.)
Please do NOT remove your number until you have gone completely through the finish line. Numbers are not interchangeable among runners. After you have crossed the finish line, continue moving to the edge of the roped off area. Each runner may cross the finish line only once with the chip. A runner who finishes and then goes back to the course to run with another runner (like a father who finishes and then goes back to run the last 1/2 mile with his son) should not cross the finish line again. If the runner crosses the finish line again, his/her first time will be disqualified and he/she will receive the latter time as their official time.
