Description
Greetings,
This year marks the 28th running of the Wickham Park Summer Series. The creator and race director, Mike Bendzinski, has retired from his role and we are excited to be carrying on his tradition of supporting and fostering distance running in Connecticut. While some faces may change, we want to ensure you that our mission remains to provide a fun, challenging and competitive experience for all! Both Dan and I have the utmost respect for Mike, the Silk City Striders and all those who have volunteered to keep this series afloat over the years. We are also grateful to SoundRUNNER of Glastonbury who continues to provide vital sponsorship for the series. We want to remind participants that all proceeds of these races will continue to support high school runners in several ways. The money raised through registration fees and t-shirt sales help student-athletes in need purchase shoes and fund team travel opportunities to compete and train out of state . This year local student-athletes are exploring several opportunities including trips to Yellowstone National Park, The Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon in 2020 and regional running camps. Thank you so much in advance for your continued support.
