These may be uncertain times, but there are some things we can depend on, like the supporters of Mystic Aquarium's annual Run/Walk for the Penguins! This year we are giving you more ways to participate during this VIRTUAL fundraiser... choose between a 2-mile walk or pick a 5K or 10K race and submit your time for exciting prizes.
New this year: the .5K Penguin Waddle! For those who care deeply (but don't care to run!), show your support by wearing your special .5K race bib when enjoying a socially-distant cocktail with friends while supporting a local business. We can't wait to see where you choose to wear your bib.
Why Participate?
Because the penguins need you and Mystic Aquarium needs your help! The African penguin, while one of the most popular species at Mystic Aquarium, is also at the highest risk of extinction. The wild population of African penguins has declined by 70% over the past 10 years. Together we can help prevent this devastating trend. We can educate and engage students and their families to the importance of endangered species and, more importantly, we can all work together to protect them.
Earn Prizes and Rewards Along the Way:
Top runners (5K and 10K categories) will receive a custom penguin print piece, created by Mystic Aquarium's own African penguin colony!
Fundraising Prizes
Raise $150 and earn a race shirt.
Raise $300 and earn an African Penguin Animal Parent Adoption Kit.
Raise $500 and earn a family membership to Mystic Aquarium.
Want to be a real over-achiever? Raise an impressive $5,000 for a private before-hours penguin feed for 10 people!
Referral Rewards
Refer seven (7) friends and earn a event t-shirt once they all register to participate.
Refer the most runners, walkers and/or waddlers and earn a Virtual "Happy Hour" with your friends and one of our penguins*
*With animal care as our top priority, penguins can only join the virtual event for 15 minutes.
Plus prizes for mini challenges that will be on facebook and emailed to participants!

Have you already completed your virtual run, walk and/or waddle? In this final mini-challenge, share a photo you you wearing your bib by posting here or emailing us at SocialMedia@MysticAquarium.org. We'll select a total of three lucky winners.
Whether you stretch out, lace up or cheer, just be sure to gather your friends and get ready to run, walk or waddle to raise funds for the African penguin!
