New Canaan Santa Run

WE ARE KEEPING THE START OF THE 5k AND WALK AT 9:30am. 

THIS HELPS US TO MAINTAIN SAFETY AND WORK WITH ANY WEATHER/TRACTION ISSUES ON OUR COURSE.

WE WANT YOU SAFE AND WILL USE AN ALTERNATE  ROAD/driveway course if needed. (we have never had to!)

We are excited to bring you the 13th Annual New Canaan Santa Run! 

                                   Join us on Saturday Dec 19, at Waveny Park in New Canaan CT

All ages and abilities are welcomed and encouraged to run or walk our 5K course or 1-mile course. Gather your family

and friends to start your pre-Christmas weekend together in the pastoral setting of a truly scenic park.

Our Waveny Park courses start & finish at the historic 'Castle'. The park is home to spacious fields and groomed trails.

You'll experience a true, peaceful setting with Nature on all sides!

Funds raised will help underwrite the $30,000 cost for our food packing event. 

Our volunteers, together with the “Feed My Starving Children” organization, will put together 100,000 meals to be

distributed world wide! This massive endeavor will take place  at New Canaan High School in March of 2027. 

THIS IS A HUGE UNDERTAKING! It involves 500 volunteers working two hour shifts of 180 'packers',

set up and clean up staff as well. Be a part of this wonderful opportunity to help those in need.

GREAT NEWS

Santa will be on-site to run with the kids in the Santa Dash.

He will also be  be available for family pictures & selfies before & after your run/walk.

The first 200 participants to register will receive long sleeve cotton shirts while supplies last.

After Dec 8 - or 200 registered - we cannot guarantee there will be shirts available.

5K AWARDS - The Overall male and female 5K champions along with the

top M & F 5K finisher in each age group will receive a medal or award.

Our age groups - 9 & under, 10-13, 14-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+

EVENT SCHEDULE 

Dec 8 - T-shirt guarantee ends. After that, "as available" and we may run out 

Dec 14 - Registration fee increases $5 through event start 

FRIDAY DEC 18- Pre-reg bib and shirt pickup from 1-4 pm 

at the Lodge next to the dog park and paddle courts at Waveny Park

                Make a plan to get there OR have someone pick up for you and avoid the stress on Saturday!

SATURDAY DEC 19- EVENT DAY

7:45 am     Pre-reg pickup- bibs, shirts, swag from the porch behind the castle or out front if the weather is clear.

                  Arrive early, get a great parking spot, & avoid the crunch!

                  (the kids will have more time to talk with Santa! And so will you!)

9:15 am     Santa Dash for kids- age 8 & under ONLY! (Parents/guardians can accompany the kids to avoid drama)

9:30 am     START of the Santa 5k Run/walk & One mile Walk 

                  The 5K is a computer timed event. All 5k participants are eligible for awards.

                  The one mile is NOT timed and there are no awards. 

                  Snacks and fluids to follow

10:30 am   Awards will be distributed

PARKING   Absolutely plenty of it, and nearby! 

We encourage and NEED donations for “Feed My Starving Children”

All amounts are welcome. They all help us to purchase and pack 100,000 meals!!   

THERE IS NO POSTPONEMENT NOR MAKE UP DAY IF WEATHER FORCES PARK/TOWN CLOSURES.

WE CANNOT REFUND ANY AMOUNT- all materials, shirts, etc. will have been purchased.

With Christmas just four days away we cannot move our event.

ALL PROCEEDS will be dedicated to our mission of our food packing event for the
“Feed My Starving Children” organization. Your registrations & donations will help

to put together 100,000 meals!! 

COURSE INFO- Our 5k course will be run in the opposite direction this year which worked out great last year.

Same roads/driveway/paths...lots of great comments in 2025 with the change, especially in the middle

of the course where there's an easy downhill section rather than uphill!

The one mile walk will be the same as in the past.

Down Waveny Park Rd (same as the 5k this year) & right to the  turnaround at the half mile mark.

Then back to the start.
