The Lightfoot Mother's Day 10k is back as an in person race! Run through East and South Norwalk, or if you can't make it to the race or aren't comfortable running in a crowd, you can do your own Virtual 10k anywhere you want.
Check out our new and improved course - after 40 years we figured it was time for a change (for the better, we think!)
NOTE: We've tweaked last year's course to eliminate crossing the I95 entrance/exits and mall construction on Wall Street.
After meeting with the Norwalk Police, we have come up with a revised course that keeps the best elements of the original and eliminates many of the headaches. Gone are the construction and hill on East Wall Street, fighting angry motorists at Exits 15 and 16 of I-95, dodging cars and trying to figure out which way to go at the traffic circles at the ends of Gregory Boulevard, and passing by two large Catholic churches. Instead, you'll be treated to a few miles of the paved Norwalk River Valley Trail through Matthews and Oyster Shell Parks.
However, to accommodate crossing the Danbury Branch train tracks at halfway, we must move the start an hour earlier to 8:15 a.m. (like in the old days). So adjust your schedule accordingly. One more reason to register ahead of time online and check in early.
Check out the map of the new course - we think you're going to love it!
Do you wait until the last minute to decide to run a race, then hate scribbling information on an entry form (we hate that too!), and stress while you're waiting in line to pay, only to find they're out of T-shirts? Well rejoice, we have the solution!
Online registration will remain open until after the race start time of 8:15 a.m. (although the price goes up by $3 at midnight Saturday). So you can wake up, go online, register, then drive to Calf Pasture and skip the race day registration lines and go right to the pre-entry line where you can check in. Heck, you can register on your phone in the beach parking lot when you arrive, or even on the way to the race (as long as someone else is driving!). Armed with RunSignUp's Check In app, our volunteers can check in a runner in less than a minute, especially if you bring your confirmation email with QR code (we can scan it from your phone).
This is the wave of the future in race registration and check-in (New York Road Runners has been doing it for several years) and we think it's going to make things easier for runners and race organizers alike. As the Mother's Day 10K enters its fifth decade, it's time to leave the past behind - come join us!
Refer 5 or more participants and get a refund of up to $12.00.
We have added RaceJoy capability to this year's race.
If you download the app and run the course (which will be marked race week) carrying your phone, you'll receive mile splits, directional information, off-course alerts, and a few cheers along the way. Family and friends can also track your progress (and send cheers) and your performance will upload directly to the race's results page.
It's free, and adds to your virtual race experience. Click on the logo to download and give it a try!
