The SHORT BEACH SUMMER 5k RUN

AS OF THURSDAY 8/3 WE ARE  COMPLETELY OUT OF SWAG/SHIRTS/GLASSES.  WE APOLOGIZE- WHEN WE HAD TO ORDER OVER TWO WEEKS AGO WE WERE AT RECORD LOW NUMBERS.

BECAUSE OF THIS UNFORTUNATE SITUATION WE HAVE REDUCED REG FEES FOR AUG 4 & 5 TO

19+ TO $25 AND  $20 FOR 18 & UNDER.

WE WILL DO OUR BEST TO SUPPLEMENT OUR SWAG. WE ARE TRULY SORRY AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING

We are thrilled to be hosting the fourth edition of our Lordship - Short Beach community event.

In 2020 it was the first running event in town after restrictions were lifted. 

 

Don’t get shut out. The 5K event is limited to 200 people. The 1.3 mile untimed walk is limited to 50 people.

The Kids Fun Run (9 & under) on the beach is ALWAYS FREE & directed by the ubiquitous Donna Cramond!

 

ALL ABILITIES ARE ENCOURAGED. You can run or walk this 5K (3.1mi) course. Everyone in the 5k will be computer-timed & eligible for awards. If you chose NOT to be timed please let us know when you pick up your bib and well before the start.  

 

We truly appreciate the support given to us by the Stratford Town Departments. We could not host this event without our friends from the Stratford-RECREATION, POLICE, FIRE, HEALTH, EMS,  & DPW.

 

This event was formerly named the MADD DASH. Four years ago it was redesigned by MS Running Productions. Our charity partner remains MADD CT. All donations help MADD fund their programs.  

 

PLEASE ARRIVE BY 8 AM on AUG 5 SO THAT YOU WILL HAVE FREE ACCESS INTO THE BEACH. (Unless you have a resident town sticker) The Stratford Recreation Department has been a wonderful supporter and grants us access BEFORE the beach officially opens at 8 am. In order for us to have you ready and safe, please be here by 8 am.

TOWN ORDINANCE- SORRY NO DOGS ARE ALLOWED INTO ANY AREA OF THE PARK.

 

REGISTRATION DETAILS 

ONLINE registration ONLY will close at 8:25 am race morning Aug 5 or sooner when the 200 limit is reached.

RACE & WALK REG is based on numbers, not dates.

You will only be charged HALF THE CREDIT CARD FEE & CT tax (the race will absorb half).

 

$30  registrations ends July 23 ($22.50 for 18 & under)

$32.50 July 24-Aug 3. (Still $22.50 for 18 & under)

 

REDUCED PRICE WITH NO SWAG  Aug 4 & 5   $25 FOR 19+ AND $20  for 18 & under

 

Race day registration is online only & ends at 8:25 am. 
 

ALL DONATIONS TO MADD ARE WELCOME-

you will NOT pay a CC fee on a donation and it is fully tax deductible. 

 

July 23 ends the swag guarantee.
You will have a choice at pickup of glasses or shirts depending on supply chain/size availability. 

After that, ‘leftovers’ if we have any, on a first come first served at bib pickup. 

 

NO IN-PERSON PAPER REGISTRATION nor cash ON SITE on AUG 5 NOR AT BIB PICKUP AUG 4.

Please KEEP YOUR ONLINE RECEIPT & arrive at bib/swag pickup with it if you’re pre-registered.

 

PLEASE DO NOT ARRIVE AT OUR EVENT IF YOU HAVE ANY COVID SYMPTOMS.

YOU SHOULD BE IN GOOD HEALTH AT LEAST THE PRIOR 14 DAYS! We need you to get well and not to risk the health of others.

 

AWARDS, TROPHIES, MEDALS & other stuff for 5K participants

We plan to give out awards ASAP starting by 9:30 am so please stick around.

There could be medals, trophies, gift cards, or stuff from tag sales! You never know!
We can NOT mail anything if you leave early and won something. 

 

5K Awards: 1st M&F overall - $25 gift cards from Nikki’s Restaurant

Awards to age groups 2 deep: 9 & under, 10-13, 14-18, 19-29, 30-39, and ten year age groups through 80+

First place Stratford resident will receive a $25 gift card from NIKKI’S RESTAURANT at Short Beach

SATURDAY AUG 5

7:00 am Short Beach gates open, free parking,

7:15 am bib/swag pickup.

8:15 am FREE Kids Fun Beach Run (9 years & under) on the sand directed by

Donna Cramond who arrives with finishers stuff.

8:20 am Announcements- then TEAM TRIUMPH STARTS

8:30 am START 5K run & 1.3mi walk. Both start near the pavilion.

8:45 am granola/snack bars and/or packaged snacks, bananas & a sealed bottle of water.

       THE AQUARION WATER TRUCK WILL BE ON-SITE FOR YOU AT THE START/FINISH

9:30 am Awards 

We encourage and support wearing masks for anyone who may feel safer with one.

After the finish:

All timed 5k participants will receive an email link to access their finishing time. A list of overall finishing times for

all competitors will be continually updated while the race is in progress.

10:15 am the final race results should be posted. 

Additional info:

*Participants are required to be completely self-sufficient. There may be a water stop on the course - we will let you know.  Carry your own fluids to be safe and please DO NOT DROP them on the course!
*Except for passing, participants should always remain safe to the left side of the road unless otherwise indicated by cones, signs, or volunteers. Most of the course is measured and set up to the left side, facing traffic, as directed by state law. 
*Participants passing one another on the course must adhere to “no drafting” rules KEEPING DISTANCE between other runners at any time. 

*Please follow all instructions by the course marshals and only cross the street when instructed to do so by the police or course volunteers.

*WHEN COMPLETING YOUR RUN AND CROSSING THE FINISH PLEASE CONTINUE MOVING AS DIRECTED.
