Description
We wanted to organize this race to honor friends who have struggled with mental health, substance use and suicide. The proceeds from the race will go to Coalition for a Better Wallingford, a grassroots organization focused on early prevention and awareness. This is a rolling 5K through a beautiful New England town. The race starts and ends at a local park and winds through residential neighborhoods, past train tracks and by open fields. In addition to the 5K, we are offering a free, although donations are appreciated, family hike at Marcus Cooke Park. There are well marked trails for those choosing to go out on their own and a guided hike will also be offered for those interested. This year we are also offering free Narcan training and education on opioid overdoses. There will be two sessions offered. Participants who sign up prior to June 9th will go home with a certificate of completion and a box of Narcan. Each training session will take 20 - 30 minutes. Please check out our Facebook page to sign up!
