Maddie O’Farrell, a 14-year-old from Brookfield, Connecticut, is a pediatric cancer survivor who embodies everything Circle of Care stands for. A lifelong athlete, her life was upended when she was diagnosed at the age of 12 with a rare form of bone cancer. Her strong will, determination, and positive attitude carried her through treatment and we are happy to share that she has been in remission since 2019.
Circle of Care has gotten to know Maddie through her participation in a few of our programs, and we can tell you with certainty that she inspires everyone she comes into contact with. We are so excited and honored to have her as our 2021 5K Champion-- we know she will encourage you on your own 5K journey!
“This time of my life was rough, but Circle of Care was a big part in getting me through it. I will never be able to repay them for all that they’ve done and continue to do for me, but you can! Making even the smallest donation to Circle of Care will help kids like me get through their hard times just a bit more easily. If you can, please donate or fundraise, and if you can’t, spread the word! Once again, thank you so much to Circle of Care for everything you did for me! I can’t wait for the 5K in May and I hope to see you all there!! :)” -Maddie
Check out Maddie’s Full Story here and stay tuned for additional messages from your 5K Champion from now until race weekend!

Circle of Care is a registered 501(c)(3) supporting families of children with cancer in Connecticut. At Circle of Care, we believe that kids need more than medicine to heal. We provide emotional and financial assistance to children and families from day of diagnosis, through treatment, and beyond-- with programs and services that meet the unique and challenging needs of a pediatric cancer diagnosis.
Circle of Care provided more than $300,000 in direct financial assistance in 2020, and we know this need will continue to rise in 2021. Your support is crucial, now more than ever as our families are experiencing the devastating effects of the collision of cancer and COVID.
