Camp CARE (Cancer Ain't Really the End) is a non-profit with the mission to provide a weeklong summer camp event for children who have or have had cancer and their siblings. Camp CARE also provides year-round activities for the campers and their families. This is all done at no cost to the families.

PJ St. Martin and Zack Dobbin are both Camp CARE alumni. Please see the History of the 5K under Event Info for more details on how this race became named for them.
Camp CARE is hosted at Camp Lurecrest in beautiful Lake Lure. Camp Lurecrest has been a long time partner with Camp CARE.
All registration is done via the RunSignUp Website only. You can still signup on race day until the race actually starts.
There will be a pre-race day packet pickup with the location TBD. Check out the Packet Pickup information under the Runner Info drop down for future updates on the location.
We strongly urge everyone to do their packet pickup before the race day. Packet pickup will also be available before the race start time but please be sure you arrive early enough to park and get to the packet pickup before the race.
Yes you can have someone else pick up your packet.
There are park restroom facilities near the start line.
There will be waterstations on the course and at the finish line.
All registered runners will get a race t-shirt. Please select your size when registering. The first 150 finishers of the 5K will also get medals. No medals are awarded for the Fun Run or Virtual Run.
There are two parking lots near the Homebuilders Shelter near the start line. Please see the additional information under the Event Info dropdown and Parking for a map of the area.
Parking is free but this is a busy park so please allow yourself enough time to get there and get parked, and checked in if you do not do pre-race day packet pickup.
The race starts and finishes in the same location between the Home Builders shelter and the park amphitheater.
There are no options for checking gear or a place to leave personal items.
Headphone and earbuds are allowed.
The race must be completed by 7:00 PM in order to facilitate cleanup before the park closes.
The race events will occur (rain or shine, hot or cold) unless the Race Directors in coordination with the Frank Liske Park Team, deem the conditions too dangerous. If the Race Directors cancel the event due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances no refunds will be made.
The Race Director decision to cancel the events will occur on race day unless other extenuating circumstances arise (Hurricane, etc.) earlier in the week.
Registration fees are non-refundable. Event registrations are non-transferable between individuals, events, or years.
