Race Day Timeline and Specifics
Coming Soon! Stay tuned!
Transition and Bike Check-In
Located in the Oleander Bowl
- Transition opens for bike check-in at 5:30am. Come early to avoid the crowd! All racers, regardless of their event or wave, must be checked into transition by 6:45am when transition closes (bike racked, area staged). Once transition closes, racers will not be allowed back in until their race begins.
- Competitors and ONE PARENT are allowed in the transition area PRIOR TO THE RACE START.
- Rack your bike on the rack matching your race number. The front wheel of your bike should rest down on the side where you see your numbered sticker. Please hang your bike if you can. Deckhands will be available to assist your athlete in racking their bike, if needed. CAPTAIN’S WAVE PARTICIPANTS ARE EXPECTED TO RACK THEIR OWN BIKES!
- Stage your equipment. Limiting the amount of stuff you bring into transition makes housekeeping much easier on our Deckhands.
- Leave room for your neighbors.
- Once the transition area is cleared for the race start, NO ADULTS will be allowed back in. Make sure you have the gear you will need before transition closes.
- REMEMBER: YOUR RACE SHOES STAY WITH YOUR BIKE WHEN YOU LEAVE TO START THE SWIM.
- No bikes may leave transition area until race management officially opens it at the end of the Mini Mate Race. NO EXCEPTIONS!
- THE PERSON RETRIEVING THE BIKE FROM TRANSITION MUST PRESENT THE RACE BIB THAT MATCHES THE BIKE NUMBER
- Please do not leave your bike in transition the night before the race. No security will be present in that area overnight.

Spectator Information
- This race is very spectator friendly, especially around transition, where you can see your athlete exit from the swim, ride out on the bike, ride in on the bike, head out for the run, and cross the finish line!
- Post race refreshments are for ATHLETES ONLY! Moody Gardens Hotel is open to purchase food and drinks for the spectators throughout the race.
- There will not be any concessions for spectators at the race site. Please plan accordingly. Palm Beach will be open to participants and family after the race.
- BE ALERT IF YOU HAVE TO CROSS THE RACE PATH! ATHLETES HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY. WE WOULD LIKE TO RESERVE THE MEDICAL STAFF FOR THE ATHLETES!
- Please be mindful of the course and all of the participants. This a fun, positive event for all of our athletes!
- Our Deckhands are volunteers and should be treated with respect and kindness. They are critical to the success of the Captain Kids Triathlon. Any inappropriate or abusive language towards our staff will not be tolerated.
