FAQs

Q. What is the Color Run?

A. The Color Run is a non-competitive “run” that takes place on a temporary track at CHS. Runners will be celebrated with a splash of color (colored cornstarch) at six stations. The colors will be released from squirt bottles managed by parent & middle/high school student volunteers.

Q. When is the Color Run?

A. The Color Run will take place on May 2, 2025, at 4:30PM. The rain date for the event is May 16th.

Q. Who can participate?

A. CHS students plus friends, family or community members of ANY age who wish to join them. Each runner must have a t-shirt purchased for them for the Color Run by a current CHS student.

Q. How do participants register for the Color Run and how much does it cost?

A. All CHS students must register at: Color Run Website. The cost for each student to run is $35, which includes a free Color Run t-shirt that can be worn during the event. Friends, family or community members who would like to participate must have a t-shirt purchased for them (for $15) by a current CHS student during the registration process.

Q. Do I complete separate registrations for each of my CHS children or register them under one child in the family?

A. Each CHS student who would like to participate in the Color Run would need their own separate registration. If you have a non-CHS student family member/friend who would like to run, you can purchase a shirt for them during the registration process.

Q. How does the Color Run benefit CHS?

A. The Color Run will raise money through sponsored donations. In other words, the students are actively earning money for their school while having fun! The CHS PTO is organizing this fundraiser on our own in order to keep 100% of the money raised. The money raised will be used to purchase 40 additional walkie talkies for the teachers/staff at Cedar Hill. Additional walkie-talkies will enable fast and efficient communication across the school, especially during emergencies or drills. This will enhance staff coordination and response times, ensuring a safe environment for both students and staff. Additional funds raised will be put directly towards fulfilling teacher wish list items.

Q. How do I make a donation?

A. During registration you will create your student's own donation page. You will receive a confirmation email with a link to that page which you can then share with friends and family to make donations. If you prefer to not have your child's fundraising page public, we recommend checking the box during registration that says, "Hide from public lists." It looks like this:

General donations can also be made directly on the website by clicking the donate button.

Q. Will there be incentives/prizes?

A. Students will earn prizes for each level of fundraising that they achieve. There will also be a prize awarded to the class who collectively raises the most money. Incentives/prizes will be determined based on fundraising total as of 11:59pm on April 28th.

Q. When will CHS student(s) receive their incentive prizes that they qualified for?

A. Incentive prizes will be distributed, along with the t-shirts, to each eligible CHS student on Thursday, May 1st.

Q. How will I receive my T-Shirt?

A. T-shirts will be distributed to the CHS student who they were purchased under on Thursday, May 1st.

Q. Where will this take place and what will it look like?

A. The "track" will be set up in front of CHS using the parking lot and grass yard of the school. All students and registrants will run concurrently. There will be a DJ on site leading the event.

Q. Will there be food and drinks available?

A. Water will be provided to our runners. There will also be several food trucks parked at the event. A portion of the sales from the food trucks that evening will be donated to CHS.

Q. Is the color powder safe?

A. Safety is our number one priority. The vendor that we partner with, Color Powder Supply Co, strives to have the safest color powder available in the USA. Learn more here: Color Powder Supply Co Safety Information

If a child does not want to participate in the color element of the run, that child is invited to express the "do not throw color" signal by crossing their arms in front of their chest as a signal to our volunteers.

Q. How permanent is the color?

A. As stated on Color Powder Supply Co's website: their color powder uses all natural dyes that clean easily off most surfaces. Cleaning is as easy as brushing or blowing off a majority of the color powder, then a little soap and water will take care of the rest.

Please note that fair skin and hair may be left with a slight tint for a day or two if heavily covered and left on for a long period of time. This will go away, of course, but something to consider if you have an important event that weekend.

Q. How can I help?

A. In addition to assisting your student(s) with donations and collection, you can sign up to volunteer. A sign-up genius will be generated where you can sign up for setting up the track, splashing powder, cleaning up, and more.
